About this cottage rental
The ground floor is arranged as an open-plan kitchen, dining and living area with high ceilings and plenty of natural light. The kitchen is fitted with a cooker, dishwasher, fridge/freezer and microwave, and is centred around an island for informal dining. The living area includes seating and a wood burner. Also on this level is a double bedroom with a cast iron bed. The bathroom is located opposite and includes a bath, walk-in shower, WC and wash basin. A small utility room next to the bathroom provides a washer/dryer and ironing facilities.
Large patio doors from the living area open onto a flagstone terrace with outdoor seating, sun loungers and a BBQ. The garden extends down to the stream, where a separate seating area is set beside the water. This area is suitable for relaxing, with views over the garden and surrounding fields.
Upstairs, there is a twin bedroom with views across the countryside. The beds can be arranged as a king-size if required, making the layout suitable for families or small groups.
The village of Keinton Mandeville is within walking distance and has a village shop and pub. Two farm shops are a short drive away, and there are several pubs in the area serving food. Nearby towns include Castle Cary, Bruton, Somerton, Glastonbury and Wells. The surrounding area offers walking and cycling routes, and wild swimming is available at West Lydford Weir, about a 15-minute walk through apple orchards. Popular attractions within easy reach include Glastonbury Abbey and Tor, Wells Cathedral, Cheddar Gorge, and National Trust properties such as Lytes Cary Manor, Montacute House and Stourhead. The Fleet Air Arm Museum, Haynes Motor Museum and Clarks Village are also nearby.
