Grab your beach gear and stroll just 0.5 miles down to Newton Beach in Porthcawl when you stay at this cottage in the seaside South Wales town. Sleeping three guests, plus a canine companion, the two-bedroom cottage is in a superb location for anyone seeking be close to shops and eateries, as well as coastal walks and scenic countryside locations.
Make your way in via the porch, where you can leave walking boots, beach sandals and dog leads, and step into the lounge. Find a film on TV in here or watch a DVD and relax for a spell before ambling through to the kitchen to rustle up a tasty meal. There is a handy serving hatch through to the dining room to make holiday catering easier. When eyelids begin to droop, climb the stairs up to the king-size bedroom or to the second bedroom, which has a sofa bed and can also be used as a dressing room. The family bathroom is also at this level. Sit out in the sunshine in the garden to the front of the cottage as often as the weather permits, enjoying coffee or a glass of wine. Dine out here and let your canine companion wander about, keeping an eye on him as the garden isn’t completely secure. Parking for the cottage is on the street, subject to availability. There is pedestrian-only access to the property.
Try Trecco Beach in Porthcawl for a change of scene or have a day out to the long, sandy beach at Aberavon, 9.5 miles away. Beautiful Margam Park, where you can walk, cycle and fish, or try the exciting high ropes course, is 7 miles from the cottage. Bryngarw Country Park, 9.5 miles away, with more than 100 acres of meadows, gardens, and mature woodlands to explore.
