About this cottage rental
Set in an idyllic garden and close to glorious beaches, this splendid period house in the village of St Mewan is perfectly placed for a wonderful holiday in beautiful South Cornwall. Sleeping six guests, along with one canine companion, it is ideal for families or a group of friends. The golden sands at Carlyon Bay and Pentewan Beach are within 5 miles, and you’ll find a wealth of attractions nearby, from the charming village of Megavissey to the huge global garden at the Eden Project, both within 6 miles.
The double-fronted property is charmingly furnished, with a relaxed, country farmhouse ambience. On the ground floor, there’s a cosy snug with a sofa and TV, and a light and spacious open-plan kitchen/diner housing a comfortable corner sofa and a wood burner inside a stone hearth. A pretty dining area leads to the streamlined, all-white kitchen and there’s a games room too. Upstairs are four delightful bedrooms, comprising a king-size, two doubles and a single, together with a stylish bathroom. Outside, explore the large and beautiful, mature garden, with an orchard, lawns and a delightful covered sitting area that’s perfect for outdoor drinks and meals. There is private parking for two cars.
Head to sheltered, family-friendly beaches at Carlyon Bay and Pentewan for swimming and sandcastles and enjoy wonderful walks along the glorious South West Coast Path. Explore the beautifully preserved historic harbour at Charlestown (5 miles), lined with pastel-painted cottages, and the delightful fishing port of Fowey (9 miles). From here, you can catch a ferry across the river to Polruan and the coast path, or over to Megavissey in the high season. Spend a day at the spectacular Eden Project, with its huge biomes housing plants from around the world, and wander through the amazing 200 acres of Lost Gardens of Heligan (both 6 miles).
