Lying in the secluded hilltop hamlet of Walton West, this delightfully updated old schoolhouse is an ideal retreat for families and friends discovering a tranquil corner of Pembrokeshire. Just half a mile from the sandy beach at Little Haven, the property has been beautifully furnished and elegantly decorated to make a cosy hideaway for seven guests. Dating back to the 19th century, this rustic-style cottage has a wealth of original features including exposed stonework, timber beams and high vaulted ceilings, alongside more recent additions including a characterful games room and sunny conservatory.
The conservatory offers a warm welcome and gorgeous views towards St Brides Bay. Three steps lead into the original school room, now a spacious and inviting lounge. Exploring the ground floor further, there’s a light, airy kitchen, a cosy dining room and a stylish games room. The cottage has four sweet and tastefully furnished bedrooms: a double and an en-suite twin room are on the ground floor, with a king-size and single upstairs. The characterful bathroom is also upstairs, with a freestanding bath and separate shower. Outside, the generous courtyard terrace is a perfect spot for sitting back, taking in the views and enjoying a BBQ. Beyond, there are several acres of natural garden to explore, with woodland trails, a meadow, stream and pond. Off-road parking is available for six cars. Please note, the pond is unfenced – please supervise children and pets.
Little Haven has a sheltered shingle-backed sandy beach and a choice of pubs and cafes. A little to the north, the popular seaside resort of Broad Haven (2 miles) has a wide sandy beach with rockpools and good surfing. This stunning corner of Pembrokeshire is home to landmarks including Pembroke Castle, Picton Castle Gardens, Stack Rock Fort and St Ann’s Head Lighthouse, all within 15 miles.
