We very much enjoyed our 7 nights stay in Trieste. The accommodation is a flat on the seventh floor of an apartment block (4 flats per floor). The building has an old-fashioned and somewhat grand but fully functional set of two lifts. An excellent feature is the view from the large windows (all double-glazed, and openable) out onto the sea. The sunsets are especially impressive and on a couple of evenings, we could see the mountains to the North, and you can also see the cruise ships arriving and departing. The accommodation is in a residential area of the city, with a big supermarket very closeby (open 7 days a week, until 8 or 8:30 p.m.) as well as a pizzeria (MiLady) where I got a very good (and much cheaper than in the centre) pizza. It is a ~20 to 30 minutes walk to the main sights in the centre: we went to the Castello on the hill on the first day where the map room including a model of the city in the museum is to be recommended to find your bearings, the shop there also provides a paper map (from the hop on bus company) and tourist information leaflet; on another day, we visited the waterfront and the excellent Museo Revoltella, including the bonus of views from the terraces on the top 2 floors, access from the floor down from the highest, and we were able to visit a wonderful Mozart concert on one evening (booked in advance before our departure) in the old opera house (Teatro Verdi). In the centre, we had a good pizza at San Genna Napoletana which had the advantage of serving gluten-free pizza that tasted well, and great ice cream at Gelateria Madison, both on a main shopping street, Via XX Settembre, so not so touristy. We also did trips by public transport, walking ~20 minutes to the nearest stop: number 6 to the end of the line for the very impressive Miramare palace and gardens; the old tram 2, getting off at Observatorio, and walking the Napoleonica path to Prosecco and getting the 42 bus back (bus stop just after the car park at the end of the route),

A well-maintained apartment in a good location, just a short walk from the city centre. The space is spacious and bright, with plenty of natural light and a nice view of the sea - you can see seagulls and boats from the window, which adds a pleasant atmosphere, especially in the morning. The apartment is clean and tidy. The furniture is new and there are thoughtful little details throughout that make the place feels comfortable and personal rather than like a typical rental. Everything you need for a comfortable stay is provided – full kitchen equipment, comfy bed, Wi-Fi, Netflix - nothing was missing. The host, Edita, was a very nice person and reliable and attentive host. She responded quickly to messages, was easy to communicate with, and had useful answers to practical questions about the area. She made sure everything was in order before our arrival and checked in to see if we needed anything during the stay. She was friendly and hospitable, which was just right. Overall, a very good choice for anyone visiting Trieste. We would stay here again.
