About this cottage rental
This country house from the 18th century is located in the small village of “A Xesteira”, in Galicia. It has been lovingly restored in a traditional style, maintaining its ancient touch while offering all the mod-cons desirable for today´s lifestyle. It is a perfect spot for a family retreat in an unspoiled natural site unchanged for centuries.
The house adapts itself to the slope of the ground. Come to cozy up in its charming lounge with a roaring fireplace to gather around. The dining room seats 8 guests and the kitchen leads directly to a beautiful verandah shaded by a centenary lemon tree. The villa has 4 double en-suite bedrooms, each with beautiful views of the leafy outside. The property, dominated by a traditional “hórreo”, gets lost into the forest, filled with mighty oak trees and mimosas.
Within 2 minutes walking you will find an idyllic river surrounded by chestnut trees with its branches falling into the water. Wandering around you will discover some old waterwheels and amazing landscapes to go for a stroll.
To access the property you have to take a steep slope and some people find it difficult the first time. Everyone gets used to it after a couple of tries, but we like to inform from the beginning! ;-)

Incredible country house/villa with lots of historical elements.
Beautiful terraces! Wonderful pool and park around the villa where there are many places where you can zit and relax with also stunning vieuws!
The first days it was difficult to concentrate on reading a book when you see such beautiful things around…..
Very lovely host which welcomes you with bottle of wine and cheese from the area.
There was every morning fresh bread hanging at the entrance!
There was also a very nice restaurant at the edge of the village with lovely people and good food.
We think we travelled a lot - but this was one of the most beautiful places we ever rented!

Beautiful property. Very comfortable, homely and well equipped. Host provided a much appreciated welcome basket with wine and cheese. Everything was as described online. The location is remote which we personally love, however others may not. Car is essential.
The entrance to the property is very steep and narrow (as is very common in the region), we ended up parking on the roadside and walking up and down to the house.
We feel the one thing missing was a ‘welcome pack’ detailing local resources and suggested activities, as we did have to spend a lot of time researching information online.
All in all, we would definitely recommend this property and would go again.

This house felt like it had its own personality! Teresa was awesome and very responsive, and staying in this home felt like a magical experience! The daily fresh bread was a special treat- we very much enjoyed our time here and look forward to returning.

What a wonderful home. The location is great and the house is simply stunning. Everything was as described and our host Theresa both greeted us and came to say good bye when we left. The house was spotless and has all the amenities you need. Even our teenage kids were very happy. The added bonus was the beautifully clean river with its large (70m and 50m) pool and clean sandy bank just a 5 minute walk away. Thank you very much. We hope to come again.
