Quillan is a medium-sized French market town at the foothills of the Pyrenees Mountains. It has an altitude of 300 meters above sea level and the Aude river runs through the town.
The town has a population of 3000 people with a large, vibrant and friendly expat community. Its inhabitants and visitors have access to; health care, schools, shops, supermarkets, restaurants, bars and so on. The village also has a market twice a week which sells everything including; organic produce, artisan bread, antiques, local wine, cheese, clothing, jewellery and much more.
The town is a popular destination for eco-tourism. There are many activities in and around the town including; white-water rafting, canoeing, fishing, kayaking, cycling, hiking and running.
At the edge of the town there is a large park which has a lake for swimming, fishing and recreation, a sports area with natural weight equipment, a pickleball court, paddle-boards, pump track, water playground, picnic area, children’s playground, fast food and mountain-bike hire.
