About this house rental
The space
As you pull off of Highway 276 and cross over the glistening Pigeon River, you’re surrounded by 190 acres of pristine mountain terrain, 0.6 miles of river frontage & only a handful of houses on property. AHMA Cottage 2 highlights Western North Carolina’s most beautiful qualities & boasts 3 bedrooms, 3 1/2 baths, high-end furniture & fixtures throughout. A fourth sleeping area is 2 trundle beds under sleeping couches on upstairs landing perfect for children . Many guests will rent both cottages to accommodate groups of friends or family gatherings, as they are across from one another. One home has an outdoor fireplace under a covered porch and the other home has a fire pit. Our other cottage has alfresco dining table for 14, located between the two cottages. There are also 3 large 8 person communal fire pits on property for your use during your stay. 2 are river side with stairs to enter the river. The 3rd is on our small pond and surrounded by a deck you can fish from. Fish, tube down the river, hike our gravel roads, explore. At AHMA, charming spaces combine with breathtaking outdoor scenery to create a paradise for all to enjoy - river to mountain top. Come visit AHMA!
Guest access
Gated community. Key box to guest accommodations is located at front door entry. Codes to both will be provided prior to arrival.
AHMA Cottage 2 is one of 3 cottages on property where you can enjoy our 0.6 miles of river frontage on the East Fork of the Pigeon River. Two cottages are located on a short street and another 2 person cottage is located riverside. We have two stone entryways into river for access to swimming, BYO tubing and fishing, while we heed caution due to the recent Helene flooding of potential “hidden” debris. The agencies completed their clean-up in June ‘25 and we completed a major overhaul of our grounds in July-September, and we are happy to say we look spectacular! Guests have caught fish (wild brown and rainbow trout) as recent as Oct ‘25 and the environmental groups have assessed the waterways.
You also have access on foot to our gravel roads that climb to 3995 feet in altitude or to the Sunset knoll just up hill from our Bunkhouse (black dorm-like building above the pond), that has a gorgeous stone knee wall and perfect for a picnic or photo op of the Rocky Face mountain backdrop!! The meadow is in our riverside valley and green and lush - play ball, practice your golf swing or throw a frisbee. Enjoy nature hikes, blackberry and apple picking, foraging and exploring, or a game of corn hole provided at the house. Something for everyone.
A good rule of thumb for picking/foraging wildflowers or our fruit (grapes, apples, blackberries) is to only take a few, leaving plenty for others to enjoy and to continue reproducing.
Other things to note:
Parties, events, weddings, elopements, professional photography, etc where additional people are at property (other than 8 registered guests) all require written permission and/or event fee from host/owner prior to reservation.
