La Casona de Yaiza I Hotel Emblematico

Lovely breakfast. Very clean room. Great shower. Nice fairly private terrace. Always managed to park the hire-car in the street. Good location for touring the island, though some people may prefer to be nearer the beaches and civilisation!

Wardrobe with hanging space for something longer than a short ladies jacket would have been nice. It was a March visit, but even so, evidence of a bar would have been nice. The restaurant (booking essential apparently) did not seem to offer a beer in the sunny patio, or anything to eat other than the booked table menu, which was actually quite limited, and not really Canarian.

Authentic feel while at the same time very modern and overall peacefull and located in very call beautiful area

Only downside is thin walls, somtimes you would hear people coming back late while laying in bed and hear footsteps and they’re voices if they were talking but most people are calm so but overall not many noise complaints

Pros • Nice view from the balcony of my room. • The traditional main building and courtyard areas are attractive and the location in Yaiza is peaceful. • Most of the staff I encountered were pleasant and polite.

Cons • The room allocated was in a modern annexe building rather than the historic part of the hotel. The annex room felt quite basic and lacked the character of the main house rooms. • Cleanliness on arrival was not ideal. There was visible dust and fluff under the bed and hair in the shower. • The room and annex building felt rather basic and tired in places, with visible marks and scuffs on corridor walls and some worn fixtures, a hole in sheets. • Lighting in both the room and annexe corridors was very harsh and cold, which made the space feel quite clinical at night. • The annexe staircase is narrow and open with hard surfaces, which means sound carries easily and it was possible to hear other guests using the stairs. • The hotel restaurant was difficult to access as a guest without a reservation on Saturday evening. On that occasion I was only able to sit outside in the evening despite staying at the hotel, it was pretty chilly but the heaters weren’t working. • The breakfast was fairly average - definitely would benefit from a proper coffee machine. • The restaurant food was relatively expensive for the quality and overall felt fairly average. ⸻ Overall The property itself has potential and the location is pleasant, but the condition and cleanliness of the annexe room did not match what I expected from a four-star boutique hotel. Travellers may wish to check carefully whether their room is located in the main house or the annexe.
