The Historic Hattie House

The room was aell-appointed with a coffeemaker, snacks, and more. Room and bath were exceptionally clean. The inkeeper/ staff was very kind.

I hadn't checked my phone during my drive to Abingdon so had not seen the instructions for using the key pad to enter the hotel. I wish they'd sent that email a day earlier so that getting in was easier, especially since there is no staffed front desk.

No real breakfast served, had coffee bar and some pumpkin bread out in the lobby area. Location was about as good as it gets in Abingdon. Right in the middle of the historic down town and right next to the newly restored train depot. Plenty of shops and restaurants to walk to.

Overall great, very well appointed rooms. Had a problem with the HVAC, and as the temps were turning cooler, had to use a space heater...but they were totally on it and were very helpful and responsive

The restoration was beautifully done. The bed was comfortable and the building has nice charm. Walkable to Abingdon restaurants and shops. A lot of character versus most regional hotels.

Small details but since booking.com lists as a 5 star property, worth pointing out. The air conditioning buzzed and the toilet kept getting stuck and continually drained. Trains and lawn mowers were loud early in the morning. No staff on site, could be good or bad depending on your preference (felt a little lonely to us). Pumps on toiletries didn’t work and you had to unscrew them. So overall, a tiny bit of attention could make the room much better.

Loved the staff and the smart way the rooms are set up. Love the location for shopping and near the Barter. We would come back!

Train woke us up. Also there is something that kept me awake -it buzzes and then makes a loud sound and turns off. I think it is the overhead air conditioner. May need white noise machine to cover it. I am a really light sleeper so it may not bother most.
