Close by there are many major attractions including Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal Water Garden (National Trust) and the historic houses of Norton Conyers and Newby Hall & Gardens. However many visitors will be more than happy to enjoy a day in the town itself - walking in the Valley Gardens followed by afternoon tea at Bettys, the town's world-famous tea rooms.
