About this house rental
Perched atop a gentle hill, the home offers sweeping lake views from the kitchen, dining room, sitting room, and upstairs bedroom.
Perched atop a gentle hill, the home offers sweeping lake views from the kitchen, dining room, sitting room, and upstairs bedroom. Step outside to a spacious multi-level deck that sits just above the lake. You’ll find plenty of tables and seating, a BBQ grill for outdoor meals, and a gas fire pit perfect for roasting marshmallows. From May through mid-October the metal dock is in place, including stairs which lead directly into the water, making swimming and paddling easy for all ages. The deck is also handicap-accessible via a boardwalk along the side of the house. Whether you’re lounging on the deck, dipping your toes in the lake, or enjoying the view from inside, this is a space made for slowing down and soaking it all in. Spring-fed Little Shag Lake is known for being clear and populated with many fish species; perfect for catching dinner without leaving the house!
Inside, you’ll find everything you need for relaxing, sharing meals, and spending time together. The entire first floor is handicap-accessible, with wide spaces and thoughtful design. The open concept kitchen, dining room, and sitting room offers spectacular lake views and is perfect for sharing space while cooking, eating, working, and relaxing. A large bathroom/laundry room features grab bars in the toilet and shower areas, and a second main-floor bathroom adds extra convenience for larger groups.
The main level also includes a full kitchen, spacious dining area, large living room, and a cozy sitting room overlooking the lake. Two bedrooms are located on this floor — one with a full bed and the other with two twins.
Upstairs, the open loft-style bedroom features two queen beds, a sitting area with a table and oversized beanbags, and a comfy lounge chair overlooking the lake — perfect for kids, teens, or anyone wanting extra space. Sliding glass doors open onto a private balcony providing one of the best views in the house. The third full bathroom (tub only) is open to the bedroom, separated from the main room only by a partial glass wall: guests who prefer full privacy may wish to use one of the bathrooms downstairs.
Enjoy quiet mornings with coffee on the deck, afternoon swims, sunset views from the balcony, or the peaceful stillness of the frozen lake in winter. The Lakehouse on Little Shag Lake offers comfort, simplicity, and plenty of room to unwind.
Boating
The property does not have a private boat launch, but a public DNR launch is available on Little Shag Lake.
Fishing
Species in Little Shag Lake include Bluegill, Brown Trout, Muskie, Rainbow Trout, Smallmouth Bass and Yellow Perch. Fishing gear is provided.
Grill
A propane grill is available for guest use year-round.
Parking
The parking area fits four vehicles comfortably, with space for one or two more if needed. While there is parking space for a medium trailer, the drive in is narrow and tree-lined, and there’s limited turnaround space — making this option recommended only for experienced trailer drivers. The garage is not accessible to guests.
Pets
Dogs are welcome! Our rental license requires all dogs to remain leashed outdoors at all times - pets may not explore the property unleashed. Cats are not permitted due to allergies.
Privacy & Security
Neighboring houses are nearby, with a tall privacy fence separating The Lakehouse from the closest property. After 10 pm, please keep outdoor noise to talking level. A single exterior security camera faces the parking area; there are no indoor cameras.
