Nestled in the heart of scenic Wears Valley, Myths of the Mountain offers a peaceful escape from everyday life while keeping you close to the best of the Smoky Mountains. Surrounded by sweeping views and quiet countryside, this thoughtfully designed cabin blends luxury, comfort, and convenience—making it a place guests love to return to year after year.

Getting here is refreshingly easy. Paved roads lead directly to the cabin, where level parking for up to four vehicles eliminates the stress of steep mountain driveways. As you arrive, you’re greeted by stunning views of Cove Mountain, setting the tone for a relaxing stay from the moment you pull in.

Inside, natural light fills the open living space through oversized picture windows that frame the mountains like living artwork. Comfortable leather and fabric seating invites you to relax by the gas fireplace, while the 65” 4K Roku TV paired with a JBL soundbar and subwoofer creates a cinematic experience for movie nights. The walls are adorned with striking canvas photography by National Geographic photographer Bill Lea, adding a unique local touch to the space.

The gourmet kitchen flows seamlessly into the living and dining areas, making it perfect for gathering. It’s fully equipped with Calphalon cookware, a generous selection of small appliances, and thoughtful pantry staples to get you started. Whether you’re enjoying a quick breakfast at the bar, a family dinner at the dining table, or preparing a holiday meal with the oversized All-Clad turkey roaster, everything you need is right at hand.

The main-level king suite feels like a private spa retreat. This spacious bedroom features French doors that open onto the deck, allowing you to wake up to panoramic valley views. The en-suite bathroom includes a double vanity, walk-in shower, and a freestanding soaking tub—perfect for unwinding after a day of hiking or sightseeing.

Upstairs, the queen bedroom offers a quiet and comfortable space with blackout curtains, mountain views, and private access to a shared hall bathroom with a double vanity and tub/shower combo. The twin room is ideal for kids or extra guests, featuring a cozy reading nook, games, puzzles, and a calm, screen-free atmosphere.

The loft game room is a guest favorite, offering hours of entertainment for all ages. Foosball, a bourbon-barrel arcade loaded with classic 1980s games, and a variety of board and card games make it the perfect spot for family game nights or rainy afternoons.

Outdoor living truly shines here. The expansive deck invites you to dine, lounge, and relax while soaking in uninterrupted mountain views. Fire up the gas grill, enjoy evenings around the fire pit table under glowing Edison lights, or melt your stress away in the luxury hot tub complete with Bluetooth audio and full-body hydrotherapy jets. With a dedicated 100-gallon propane tank, you’ll never run out mid-grill or mid-fire.

The spacious yard adds even more room to unwind. Play a game of cornhole, nap in the double hammock, browse the outdoor reading library, or gather around the wood-burning fireplace in Adirondack chairs for cozy nights under the stars. And when you’re ready for more, you’ll also have access to a nearby community pool just about 5 minutes away—a perfect bonus during warmer months.

For longer stays or working vacations, the cabin includes a full laundry room and Starlink high-speed internet, making it easy to stay connected while enjoying a true mountain retreat.

Myths of the Mountain is more than a cabin—it’s a place to slow down, reconnect, and create lasting memories in one of the most beautiful valleys in the Smokies.

Everything about Myths of the Mountain was wonderful. The home was so inviting by being exceptionally clean, well stocked, and nicely decorated. The "blanket basket" was such a cozy touch and the blankets were used to curl up on the awesome deck with the amazing mountain view. The beds were very comfortable, too. We enjoyed seeing the pictures and reading the story about the owners. Be sure to read the guest book for ideas on where to go and what to do. Shortly after we arrived and settled in, a bear walked down the driveway towards the front porch, went around the car, and exited through the yard (first time I came that close to one so it was pretty cool). Our communication with the host, Todd, was flawless. He responded quickly when we reached out for assistance. This was a "BFF" trip and the Townsend area met our needs perfectly. We spend one day exploring the town. Meals on the Little River at "The Abbey" and the "LIttle River Pub and Deli" provided beautiful settings and good food. Shopping was fun. The next day was spent on the deck admiring the view, chatting, and playing games. This area truly is the "peaceful side of the Smokies". The only negative is that we didn't have enough time to do all that we wanted to. We definitely plan to come back!

Better than the pictures! From the moment we pulled in, we knew we were going to love this place! Three generation girls trip: my mother, my sister, my daughter and myself ALL absolutely LOVED this cabin. Conveniently located, yet secluded at the same time. So peaceful to sit out and enjoy the views. The very first night we had a black bear casually stroll through the yard! We were thrilled to see such a magnificent creature so close, yet safely from the amazing deck/porch. The views of the mountains were breathtaking and each morning we enjoyed a beautiful sunrise while sipping coffee. This cabin is beautifully appointed, clean and spacious! I will definitely stay here each time I come to the Smokies!
