Coastal Work & Rest Retreat

When we reached the property after our long trip it was easy to reach out to the host to obtain the code for the lockbox. The lockbox was easy to use as well. The host was very welcoming and warm and easy to speak to. The property was clean with lots of extra linens and towels etc. available. The beds were comfortable and had plenty of pillows. The televisions worked well and allowed us to have entertainment in the evening when we arrived back from our activities. The television in the livingroom was a little older but gave us no issues and worked fine. Their was a twin mattress in a bag we were not aware would be available but worked out very nicely since the sofa did not pull out as I originally thought. The full kitchen was nice and an important necessity for us. We enjoyed cooking and had no issues doing so. The washer and dryer worked very well and were easy to use. The air conditioners worked well and cooled the rooms well when it was hot outside that was not a concern inside. It was easy to bring the trash out and the other occupants of the home in the separate unit helped with it as well. The other occupants were quiet and we had no issues or disturbances with them. The property was well stocked with cleaning and cooking supplies and was decorated very well.

Although the rest of the outlets seemed to work in the home, 1 of the bedrooms had fully functioning outlets while the other only had 1 functioning outlet which the television and air conditioner are plugged into so we had to charge our phones in the other room. The water pressure and temperature were issues when showering. The water gets very hot quickly and the pressure does not work well if any other water is being used. This includes when the other occupants of the home are showering in their separate until. If you space it out it was not an issue. The air conditioner in the livingroom leaked water and needed to be cleaned up but was not horrible by any means more something to keep an eye on. The bathroom has no working fan so a window needed to be cracked to let moisture escape but was not a big deal and easy to vent the window. My car was stolen from the driveway which was no fault of the host or property. The neighborhood did not seem bad itself however the new haven police department was very disappointing to work with which also was of no fault to the host or property. When I reached out to the host the host was wonderful and cooperative. Overall our experience was good and we definitely would not have been as comfortable in a hotel.

Pretty much had all the essentials needed

The place appears to be a newly renovated house that has been divided into separate apartments—one on the first floor and this one on the second floor. You have the entire space to yourself, so there’s no need to worry about running into neighbors or sharing common areas. The location is great—just about a 10-minute drive to Yale. The beds and blankets are very comfortable, and everything you need is readily available. The space is also very clean, with lovely and cozy décor that makes you feel right at home. We loved it! We’d happily stay again—especially if my son ends up enrolling at Yale someday (though he’s only seven now, lol).

The TV in the living room didn’t work, and we weren’t sure whether the remote control matched the TV. Additionally, our first-floor neighbors watched a sports game a bit loudly at night and had music playing early in the morning. They seemed quite young, so it’s understandable and not a major disturbance, but it was still noticeable at times.
