Tredrez-Locquemeau
Locquémeau is a small fishing port situated on a rugged coastline , between the cliffs at the edge of GR34, the Notigou beach, Kirio hidden cove (elected Ouest France’s favourite beach in 2025)and the Leguer estuary.
The granite of the chaos of rocks at the tip of the Dourven peninsula stands alongside the shale of the Sehar peninsula.
Its past as a sardine port is celebrated every 4 years at the Fête de la sardine.
The small briny water swamp of the Vorlenn lies between the 2 pebble banks which are so typical of this port.
You will find the essentials for a pleasant stay : a grocer’s with bakery,a lively market on the port on Wednesday afternoons, a fishmonger’s( with lots of people queueing up to get the delicious Locquémeau mussels), the Café du port, the Kemo pizzeria, the Sant Erwan crêperie in Tredrez, etc.
The children will enjoy the play park next to the beach or take sailing lessons at the sailing school( kayak, windsurfing, optimist) while the older ones will take advantage of the outdoor tennis courts.
The churches deserve a visit, with their ship models hung on the vault (votive offerings ) and the « Tree of Jesse »in Tredrez, is a national treasure protected behind armoured glass.
About the area :
You will stay near the coast of pink granite, go for a walk along the customs trail in Ploumanach( elected as the French people’s favourite village, in a TV programme in 2021) to the lovely Men Ruz (red stone in breton) lighthouse.
Eat a pancake sitting at a restaurant terrace looking out onto St Guirec’s beach and the Costaeres castle on the little island opposite. Prick the saint’s nose with a needle to find out if you will marry before the end of the year.
You can walk up to Perros Guirec, the famous seaside resort with its 2 beaches of fine sand, its spa , its casino and numerous restaurants.
Take a passenger boat to the 7 Islands’ bird reserve, where you will see the puffins and gannets.
Walk around l’île Renote in Trégastel ( in fact it is a peninsula). Have fun guessing the names of the granite boulders with irregular shapes, the « painter’s palette » for example. Have a swim in the blue-greenish water(« glaz »in breton) between the pink granite boulders.
Lannion is 12 km away. You will love the market on Thursday mornings, which spreads along the Leguer and up to the Place du centre with its beautiful corbel houses.
You could climb the 142 steps up to the Brelevenez church.
Trebeurden, l’île de Batz , and l’île de Bréhat are also a must.
The cultural heritage is very rich : the chapel of our lady of Yaudet, the Barnenez Cairn, the feudal castle of Tonquédec, etc.
The children will love the Gaul village leisure park in Pleumeur Bodou and, of course , the planetarium and the « radôme ».
To the west, you will find a 5km beach from St Michel en Grèves to St Efflam. ideal for sand yachting and kite surfing
