Merlin Hut & Farm

Overall: This is definitely a hidden gem in Kanchanaburi. Everything seems to be made thoughtfully with love and care to both people and wildlife. We booked for 1 night but ended up staying for 3 because we loved it so much. I never write such long reviews, but this place deserves more attention than it gets. They have a few different type of little houses that you can choose from. We chose the bungalow hut type and the review will mainly touch the experience related to our choosing and may differ if you choose other type of Merlins huts. Location: Merlins hut is located on the other side of the river, further away from all the town noise. It's more like a retreat, if you want to have a chill and private time surrounded by nature. 20 minute walk to get across the river, so we had nice evening walks to town, but during the day it's super hot so we recommend having car or motorbike if you come here. Also there is a nice riverside restaurant "Nanna" neighboring Merlins teritory. Teritory and privacy: The bungalow huts teritory is separated with bamboos and bushes, each huts chilling spots are placed in a way to give everyone more private experience. The teritory is well maintained, each day people are trimming the hedges, raking the leaves and watering the lawn to keep everything beautiful and cozy. Hospitality: Sadly we did not have the pleasure to meet the owner, but manager Mei was fantastic! (sorry if i heard your name wrong :D). She showed us around, gave us a ride to town while we still havent had rented a car. She knows basic english but we used google translate to communicate so there were no problems. You can always chat with her through "Line app" if you need any help. Bungalow hut: - It is super cozy and surprisingly well sealed to keep the wildlife out of your hut. - The AC is quiet and keeps the hut cool. - everything was super clean, fresh bedsheets, clean toilet and shower. - there is a tv with youtube premium. Also netflix but you have to have your own account. Breakfast: The way they do breakfast is amazing! They bring the breakfast to your doorstep in the morning(8am?) but the food is sealed so you can sleep-in if you want and have your breakfast whenever you wake up. The food was very good and sufficient to start your day. Wildlife and security: As we are nature lovers, we had a truly amazing experience! During the day it's pretty calm, but when the sun sets, the animal kingdom comes alive and gives you a symphony of all kind of sounds! It truly felt like living in a jungle, even tho it's so near the town. -A colony of snails that lives under the huts comes out to roam and feed on the grass, so we were carefully walking not to crush them. - There were 2 local dogs and a cat that came to greet us one day but they were clean, friendly and just wanted to play and chill by the side of the hut. - We had a gecko in our bathroom that ocassionally came to check on us. - Also we had a priviledge to spot a planthopper nymph, which is a very interesting tiny creature. Altho we were surrounded by wildlife, we felt safe because the teritory is well lit and well maintained. 10/10, would surely come back if i ever end up in Kanchanaburi again.
