About this house rental
Our home is a timber-frame build with hemp-lime walls, rainwater-fed systems, solar energy, and natural wastewater reed bed treatment.
Set on the edge of Cluny, where woodland meets open fields, this modern eco home offers a rare combination in the region: a quiet rural setting, a purpose-built yoga/Pilates/dance studio, and a layout suited both to relaxed holidays and to retreats focused on movement, creativity, and rest.
Located in Burgundy, one of France’s great gastronomic regions, the house is well placed for guests who enjoy exploring local food, vineyards, markets, and cultural sites, as well as those seeking a slower, more nature-based stay.
The house is part of a small, peaceful hamlet of four homes yet the historical town of Cluny is just a 2km walk away. It has been deliberately oriented away from neighbouring houses, with windows, living areas, and outdoor spaces facing woodland and open fields, creating a strong sense of privacy while remaining part of a living rural community.
Built as a self-build project with a timber frame and hemp-insulated walls, the house stays naturally cool in summer and warm in winter. It is powered by solar panels, ventilated and tempered by a Nilan heat and air system, and complemented by a wood-burning stove for winter evenings.
Rainwater is collected from the roof and used for toilets and washing machines, and wastewater is treated via a plant-based reed bed system. This level of ecological design is unusual for the area and contributes to the comfort and character of the house.
The main space is open-plan and all set on one level offering step free access from the parking area to all the main living areas of the house.
Featuring large windows opening onto woodland and field views, the space includes a fully equipped kitchen, dining area, two bedrooms, a sofa bed, and a dedicated office area whilst Tatami flooring creates a calm, grounded atmosphere suited to barefoot living, yoga, movement practice, and rest.
On the lower level, the house includes an equipped movement studio with floor-to-ceiling wall mirrors, ballet barre, mats, balls, rollers and Pilates equipment.
Outside, two balconies offer far reaching views over woodland whilst a large wooden deck extends into the landscape at the front and is suitable for outdoor yoga or Pilates practice in good weather. A large garden, enclosed by trees provides a further area for play or relaxation.
Please note: There is a separate, self contained studio flat on the ground floor that is not currently part of the rental and may be occupied.
Important note on use of the house:
This is a quiet, residential hamlet. The house is not suitable for parties, events, or late-night gatherings. It is ideal for guests who enjoy calm evenings, respectful shared space, and a peaceful rural setting.
The property is provided with all linen and towels free of charge.
