About this cottage rental
The original property built on the lower level is one of the first structures to be built on Elkhart. Over the years, the second and third levels were added, giving the home its unique split-level design. Each floor is completely isolated to itself and connected only by exterior stairs. There are three outdoor stair flights total — two flights connecting the three living levels and the final flight from the bottom level takes you to lake access. Once you reach the bottom of the stairs, a paved sidewalk continues down to the lake deck. It’s part of what makes this place feel like a true multi-level lake retreat — but please note there is no interior stair access between floors.
Pretty cool!
The Top Level (the first level you pull up to when you arrive) is generally the “town hall” of the lake house. Most people cook, congregate, hang out, play games or just sleep here. There is a full kitchen (1 of 2), a Main Bedroom (1 King), a walk-up loft (2 twins and a trundle with 2 twin beds), and a large living space with two sofa beds. There are 7 beds on the top floor alone!
The Middle Level has 3 bedrooms and a bathroom with a shower. Bedroom 1 has 2 twins, Bedroom 2 has a queen bed, and Bedroom 3 has a King bed.
The Lower Level has a living area with a full kitchen and a large overhanging deck that looks out over the lake. There is also a grill on the deck. This floor is great if you’re cooking a lot and need more kitchen space — or if you want to host a dinner party on the deck. I highly recommend some friends, the grill, and some wine during sunset. It’s magical.
As you continue down the paved sidewalk toward the water, you’ll pass the boathouse — stocked with lake-day essentials like life vests, inflatables, and fishing gear. From there you step out onto the lake deck, where things really open up. There’s a tiki bar setup with a drop-down TV connected to Wi-Fi, making it just as easy to catch the race as it is to catch the sunset. The dock extends out over a 12-foot drop-off into one of the clearest lakes in Wisconsin. It’s deep, clean, and perfect for swimming, floating, or just dangling your feet in the water while you unwind. This is where mornings start slow and evenings last a little longer.
