The Royal Dornoch is known for its Championship Course which offers a magnificent challenge featuring stunning coastal vistas; however, the lesser-known Struie Course is also a must-play throughout your stay. Playing a round of golf here not only hones your skills but also provides a chance to embrace the natural splendour that defines Dornoch.
A mere 10-minute drive from Burnside lies the iconic Glenmorangie Distillery. Whisky enthusiasts can revel in fascinating tastings, savouring the unique flavours of this globally acclaimed Scottish spirit.

Burnside is located at the centre of Dornoch making it the ideal place for someone to stay if using the public bus or private hire taxis upon arrival or departure, as the Stagecoach bus stops is no more than a 2 minute walk from the front door. The property is also very well lit at night due to the surrounding street lights.
Burnside does have parking available for approximately 4 vehicles, depending on size, with additional on-street parking available in the surrounding area.
Burnside is a spacious and versatile detached home in the heart of Dornoch, just a two-minute walk from the first tee at the world-famous Royal Dornoch Golf Club.
Set over two floors, the property has been thoughtfully designed to comfortably accommodate larger groups, offering two fully furnished kitchens and two separate lounge areas, making it ideal for families or groups who appreciate having extra space to relax and socialise. Both kitchens are fully equipped with everything needed for home cooking, while the dual lounge setup provides plenty of comfortable seating for unwinding after a day exploring the Highlands or enjoying the nearby golf course.
The property offers five well-appointed bedrooms hosting a total of eight beds, providing flexible sleeping arrangements for a variety of group make-ups. The master bedroom features a zip’n’link bed, set as a Super-King as standard but able to be configured as two single beds on request. There is also a twin bedroom, a double bedroom with a king-sized bed and en-suite bathroom, a further double bedroom with a king-sized bed, and a family room hosting a king-sized bed alongside a single bed. In total, Burnside benefits from four bathrooms, ensuring comfort and convenience for all guests throughout their stay.
Outside, the property boasts private parking and a large wrap-around garden, offering a peaceful outdoor space while still being centrally located within Dornoch. With the town’s shops, cafés, restaurants, beach, and championship golf course all within easy walking distance, Burnside combines generous space, flexibility, and an unbeatable location — making it a fantastic base for a Highland getaway.
When travelling to Burnside, we recommend planning your transport in advance or ensuring you have access to a car where possible.
While Uber has recently started operating in the area, availability can be limited, and wait times may be longer than in larger towns. Public transport options include local bus services (Stagecoach or Ember) and occasional private hire taxi companies.
Dornoch does not have a ScotRail train station; the nearest railway station is located in Tain.
