Some island trips are about the itinerary. This one is about how little you have to think about it.
Treetops 4904 sits in South Forest Beach, the walkable middle of Hilton Head, where the shops and the sand are close enough to reach on foot and the buildings still disappear under a canopy of live oaks and Spanish moss. It's a quiet, established pocket — low-rise villas set around lagoons and shaded paths — and it puts you a short walk from Coligny without putting you in the middle of it.
Inside, the villa is bright and easy to settle into. An open layout runs the kitchen, dining, and living areas together, with stainless appliances and everything you need for beach-day breakfasts and unhurried dinners at the table for six. After a day out, the living area is where everyone lands — or step out to the balcony, where the view is exactly what the name promises: leaves, filtered light, and a breeze that keeps you out there longer than planned.
The sleeping setup works for families and small groups. Two queen bedrooms give the adults real privacy, and twin sofa beds in the living room open up room for the kids or a couple of extra guests. A washer and dryer handle the sandy towels and the longer stays.
The community carries a lot of the weight here. Guests have access to three pools and tennis courts on the grounds, which means the afternoon plan can be as simple as walking downstairs. Van der Meer Tennis Center, one of the sport's best-known teaching academies, is a five-minute walk away if anyone wants to take it more seriously.
The beach is the real draw, and it's genuinely close. Coligny Beach Park is under a mile out — roughly fifteen minutes on foot, five on a bike — with rinse stations, boardwalk access, and the wide, hard-packed sand Hilton Head is known for. Coligny Plaza sits right beside it, with shops, ice cream, a grocery store, and enough restaurants to keep a week interesting. Lowcountry Celebration Park is closer still, a standout for families thanks to its pirate ship playground and splash features.
Beyond that, the island opens up. Hilton Head's public pathway network runs for miles, and the flat terrain makes a bike the default way to get around. Sea Pines Forest Preserve is about a mile out for boardwalks, lagoons, and wildlife, with Harbour Town and its candy-striped lighthouse a short drive farther. Kayak and boat trips push off from Broad Creek and Shelter Cove into the salt marsh, and the island's championship golf — Harbour Town Golf Links, the Robert Trent Jones and Arthur Hills courses at Palmetto Dunes — sits within about fifteen minutes.
Then it's back under the oaks to a quiet villa, a cool shower, and the balcony. Not a bad rhythm to fall into.
