# Extremely Overpriced. A Beautiful View Alone Does Not Make It a Resort. **Rating: 2/10 – Not Recommended** I stayed at **Sila Senorila, Chikkamagaluru** from **6th July to 8th July 2026** along with two of my friends. We paid **₹28,385.35** for our stay, and unfortunately, it turned out to be one of the most disappointing hospitality experiences I've had. Let me begin by saying that this property has one exceptional feature—the infinity pool overlooking the mountains. The view is breathtaking. Unfortunately, that is where the positives largely end. ## Calling this a "Resort" is Misleading In my opinion, this property does not deserve to be marketed as a resort. A resort is about the complete experience—space, ambience, facilities, activities, convenience and hospitality. This property falls short on most of these aspects. There are numerous homestays in Chikkamagaluru offering equally stunning (or even better) views at significantly lower prices. The location is excellent, but the overall experience simply doesn't justify the premium pricing. ## The Property Ends Before It Begins The property is surprisingly small. There is hardly any internal space to walk around or explore. Once you've seen the infinity pool and your room, that's pretty much it. The surrounding natural landscape belongs to nature—not the resort. A scenic location alone doesn't create a resort atmosphere. ## Major Facility Shortcomings ### Accessibility One of the biggest inconveniences is that you cannot drive your own vehicle directly to the property. Every guest, luggage movement and even the resort's daily operations depend on an off-road vehicle transporting people and supplies from another property. ### Laundry There are no in-house laundry services. Laundry is handled through another property, making the service dependent on external logistics. ### No Bar For a premium resort charging these prices, not having a bar or even the option of ordering alcoholic beverages to your room is surprising. Yes, guests are allowed to bring their own drinks, but since the property is isolated and transportation is restricted, this isn't always practical. ### Wi-Fi While many guests intentionally travel to disconnect from technology, providing reliable Wi-Fi is still a basic hospitality expectation today. The Wi-Fi barely reaches the rooms. We had to walk near the router to get a usable signal. This is a relatively inexpensive issue to fix. ### Ambience The overall ambience feels extremely basic for the amount charged. There is very little that gives you the feeling of staying at a luxury resort. ### Room Access The rooms still use traditional keys and locks. At this price point, electronic key cards or smart access systems have become standard in most quality resorts. It may seem like a small detail, but these touches contribute significantly to the premium experience guests expect. ### Extra Bed We were three guests and opted for an extra bed. To our surprise, the "extra bed" was simply a mattress placed directly on the floor. When guests pay an additional ₹3,000–₹4,000 for a third occupant, they naturally expect a proper portable cot or rollaway bed—not a mattress on the floor. This felt outdated and certainly not in line with what most luxury resorts provide today. ### Food The food was decent but nothing memorable. Menu options are fairly limited: * No Malnad cuisine * No tandoor options * No fish dishes * No mutton dishes * Chicken appeared to be frozen rather than fresh Our room service bill of approximately **₹2,500** included: * 2 vegetarian starters * 1 non-vegetarian starter * Dal Khichdi * Egg Fried Rice * 1 tonic water * 2 water bottles * 3 coffees Considering the quality and variety, I felt the pricing was on the higher side. ## Payment Experience This was probably the most uncomfortable part of the stay.
