The apartment is spacious, compared to other places in a similar price range in Cyprus. The kitchen is modern and essentials were provided. The host communication was good

Mould in the shower area and also mould on the walls in one of the bedrooms. Also one of the beds had a second mattress put on top of the old one, therefore the bed was super high and not comfortable as it squeaked when turning.

Overall impression and location: Large airy apartment with large balcony in a quiet, safe, residential neighbourhood. Parking space for car available on the street. If you want exploring Larnaca city on foot, the location is ideal. Both the city centre and beach are an approximately 20-minute walk. Multiple supermarkets available at 5-10 minute walk distance. Apartment: The host was very much accessible and cooperative in solving any occurring issues. Better preparation and organisation might have streamlined matters better for all involved. Importantly, cleaning needs significant attention and improvement. There are hardly any cleaning materials. More specific: Bedrooms: The apartment has two bedrooms, both with a double bed. One bed is firm and comfortable, the other bed has a rather soft mattress. There is sufficient closet space in both bedrooms. Each bedroom has only one bedside lamp. Bed sheets and pillow cases provided had light stains, which did came out after a self initiated wash. The duvet cover has an open seam, while the duvet itself could use a wash too. In closet of one of the bedrooms a hair dyer, iron, and ironing board can be found. Washing machine on the terrace outside: Before it could be used, the washing machine present needed a proper clean up to remove long term build up fabric softener sludge and major (hand sized) washing powder crusts/ residue, requiring it to be cleaned on the out- and inside, plus the floor around it. Kitchen: The kitchen was found in a state that required a thorough clean up. All cabinets were greasy and sticky on the in- and outside. The available water kettle needed to be descaled, while the coffee machine present could only be used partially. Most likely, previous inhabitants used the milk frother without customary cleaning it afterwards, resulting sour, decomposing milk residue. The tap in the kitchen produced “common” and “potable water”. It does not provide hot water at all. Upon arrival, the kitchen sick was

found to be clogged. This did disable the use of not only the kitchen sick, but also the washing machine and dishwasher After 4 days working around the issues, not being able to use these facilities, the host issued a plumber who solved the issue “of major fat residue build up in the pipes”. Availability of common kitchen ware and utensils is very limited, i.e. no corkscrew, no kitchen towels, varying size cooking pans, which was solved by host bringing some additions after discussion and some where bought privately. The present pots and pans, many had loose handles and showed clear signs of heavy use. This did also apply to the knobs of the oven, which where cracked and broken and could only be limited operated. Bathroom: Hot water is available in the bathroom, albeit limited. Due to the sunlight dependant set up: NO SUN MEANS NO HOT WATER, including the shower! Water pressure in the shower is low. Multiple stays at other locations during this same period elsewhere on Cyprus showed this to be a unique issue with this specific accommodation.We were provided with 2 towels per person for a 4-week stay, which might be called sparse. More towels would saves significant energy and the environment. Living room: There is a nice and comfortable couch, 6 chair dinner table, and a spartan working space. Excellent wifi is available. The television available is net-connected and has access to Netflix, albeit without a ready-to-use subscription. No local interstitial stations/ channels are available. Hence, if no access to a private subscription is available, no television is available. HDMI cable for television is available, as are a large supplyof “to-UK” (type G) electric plug adapters. As a probably remnant of a recent renovation, remaining paint splatters are present on the stone apartment floors and poorly washed, somewhat grimy windows. Overall conclusion: A very nice apartment with high potential, if developed , managed, and maintained properly and consistently.
