HILL HOUSE IS A HIDDEN DIAMOND, GREAT ACCOMMODATION! Travelled over on my own, my family and friends arrived four days later. I felt completely safe. The back alley entrance can be a bit misleading, but extremely safe, hotel workers live behind and are messy but lovely; my brother nicknamed me the "alley-cat", but he and our family and friends dined at the restaurant most nights. I came and went at all hours; sometimes arriving back at 3:00AM after nights out sightseeing or out with family and friends. Hill House is approximately 11 min from the museums and mosques; FIRST RT, SECOND LFT, FIRST RT, FIRST RT, FIRST LFT. It's a better and quieter area, quite the relief after a busy day, sitting under a tree! Always lots of nice people around and good hotels on the doorstep. The owner has a restaurant next door: Valley Hills Cafe & Restaurant, he gave us a discount on food, and free Turkish tea. The food prices at the Valley Hills Cafe & Restaurant were cheaper than majority restaurants, bonus, the owner has the best house wine too, from Ankara: red and white, YUM, and delish Turkish beer; the restaurant offers an extensive menu and we all tried different dishes each night we dined there and they were delicious (8 of us in total most nights). My niece on her Hyrox diet, was accommodated. I had breakfast there every day and they accommodated my dietary requirements. There is a wonderful fruit and veggie shop 2 min walk away in a basement, and a corner shop on the corner of the street towards the train station; both took card payments. If you want a breakfast deal at Hill House with the room, get in touch with the owner on Bookings.com and he will give you his WhatsApp number and is very helpful; he never begs or pushes for anything, he is a respectful, kind man and keeps his distance. Room: clean, tidy, quiet and spacious and is more than fit for purpose. The attic room has a sea view. I preferred the room below.

Havaist Bus from Airport level -2, route 11 to Catladikapi (last bus stop) was perfect (busses every 30/40 minutes 24 hours). Took an Uber from the Catladikapi bus stop to Hill House. Istanbul is a seven hill city. With a suitcase, better to book on Uber app, don't flag a taxi, rates are over inflated; NO added costs using Uber app. Bus from the airport was £7.00 and Uber is cheap via app. Google maps excellent too. IST airport blocks internet and cons/ scams people. As you exit the plane, there is a self help computer for e-sim directly ahead; you can print a pin from the machine to access airport internet. IMPORTANT download: Airalo (e-sim) app BEFOREHAND, app: yellow-orange graph (illegal in Istanbul), but turn on your block IP address in settings; download VPN super, and turn on VPN management in settings; I paid €19.00 for unlimited internet for 7 days, the internet only WORKS WHEN YOU EXIT THE AIRPORT. Airport staff rude, and prices beyond inflated. Satellite is good too. I stayed at another hotel for a few days, which was situated near the Sultan Ahmed Mosque, but didn't feel safe whilst there, or leaving my suitcase whilst out; staff went into my room. We felt harassed by undesirable men in the streets near the mosques, museums, backstreets near lots of good hotels. We preferred Hill House, safer, never worried about my bag or passport; door locks were good, bathroom perfect for use, invariably one only sleeps, makes dinner or has takeaways. Hill House and Valley Cafe Restaurant are wonderful, the owner very helpful. Around the corner from Hill House there is an overground train which goes from East to West, one can walk there and over the bridge, but better to take the train and walk over the bridge, one stop. Take a picture of the name of the station you leave from to show the station staff upon return to get on the right train. We were scammed at a roof top restaurant/bar, charged 25% service for drinks.
