Apartment 3 minutes from cablecar

Lite svårt och hitta dit, men när man väl gjort de, så finns det inget som man inte gillade.

We loved the apt. It’s cozy and the location is very nice as well easy to reach city center. Nina was very friendly and super helpful . She gave us may suggestions.

We couldn't believe our luck when we walked into our apartment. Spacious, super clean, beautifully furnished and so well equipped. The lounge has big comfortable sofa with ultra large flat screen TV next to the ceiling to floor window where we admired the northern lights and even spotted footprints of arctic fox (?) on the snow of our own little terrace. The kitchen has everything, not just dishwasher and utensils but gadgets that a holiday chef would dream of. The bathroom is stylish and spacious with washing machine. The large bedroom has a wardrobe, and the double bed was located next to the window with blackout curtains, convenient for checking if northern lights are in display in the middle of the night (which we did). The apartment is located at the top of the building complex which means you need to walk up and down with your luggage from the street (less than 80m) and another 80m to the nearest bus stop (direct bus to the airport and city centre). The famous Arctic Cathedral is 600m down on foot, but if you turn right on our street, a large supermarket is only less than 300m away. EuroSpar here is an upmarket chain and you can buy not only readymeals like elk steak & mash but local seasonal delicacy like skrei cod tongue and arctic shrimps from the fresh fish counter. The view point on the footpath to the Cable Car is 15 minutes away and we saw the most amazing northern lights from there. Neighbourhood full of snow-covered fairytale houses overlooking the city and mountains - what's not to like!? Our host Nina was also exceptional. We felt so welcome with her Norwegian hospitality. She answered all our questions prior to and during our stay promptly and provided further tips which made our experience very special. For example, our bus route is popular with visitors to the Cable Car (one stop before ours) and how to get seated on a crowded bus was a hidden local knowledge.

None for us, but some people may be fussier than us. You need to remember that this is a real Norwegian residence rather than a dedicated holiday accommodation. Part of the furniture is not for guests use and sealed. When we stayed, the freezer section of the large kitchen fridge was one of them. If freezer is so important for your stay, you may want to negotiate with the host prior to your visit. The double bed is the standard size (given the size of the room, we would prefer bigger, but it is a personal preference). Very soft mattress and the topper - which were fine with us but some people may prefer harder. Spare bed linens would be nice (even though the landry dries well indoors thanks to the excellent central heating). We visited Tromso primarily to ski, so having an ample space to put our ski gear at the entrance was great, but we paid extra care not to damage the lovely wall paper or furniture when we moved our gear. Coat/hat rack or some structure on the wall over the space where the wireless vacuum cleaner is stored may be ideal.
