Artistic Haven with Unique Poolside Escape

Everyone is an artist, once said the German art theorist Joseph Beuys. This extraordinary villa was not only designed by one of them - the owner gave free rein to his imagination both inside and out and did much of the work himself - it is also sure to turn the guests who stay here into true artists. At least when it comes to the art of letting go. The rather elongated Massari is designed as a single chill-out zone where a community of six artists can let off steam to their heart's content. If this is what family time looks like, it's not just the older children who will love it. What others call a pool is a wet lounge here: planted with rocks and natural boulders! A shallow water zone! A wooden jetty where you can dangle your legs! Sun loungers made of wood, wickerwork and stone, to the delight of bums of all kinds! A 29 metre long swimming channel that will delight even the most ambitious lap swimmers! An outdoor shower! And then there's the wooden-roofed terrace with Ibiza-style cushioned stone alcoves and the incredible outdoor kitchen, perfect for rustic open-air parties with finger food, where everyone can gather around the huge barbecue and serve themselves without worrying about splashing grease. And to top it all off, this exotic villa is nestled in a Tuscan-style landscape in absolute peace and quiet, with green hills all around and only a few neighbours some distance away ... And so (voluntarily, according to Beuys): Let yourself go, take lots of little naps, laugh a lot and bathe in the moonlight. Hip and chic, playful and modern, alternative and colourful - (holiday) life in this villa seems to dance across several levels. What you see here is either restored or customised. The living room, which opens up completely to the pool terrace, is a kind of huge artist's loft with design elements made of clay bricks; the sofa arrangement looks over the wooden walkway to the pool and beyond. Upholstered niches and ledges made of sandstone, armchairs, high white ceilings, carpets, art objects and collectibles harmonise well with each other and create an informal and relaxed atmosphere. Only candles burn in the decorative fireplace, but the villa's heating system ensures warm feet when needed. As the chef, you have the opportunity to keep an eye on everything: from the gallery to the kitchen. But if the rumours get too hot, you can always go straight to the dining table outside from here. But who is huddling with whom under which mosquito net? Behind the kitchen there are three bedrooms with either a 1.80 metre wide double bed or two single beds pushed together; two are opposite each other at the same height, the other is a few steps lower. Even the unique fairy lights look relaxing, so you can be sure that this is a great place to rest and unwind. One thing that really stands out about this place is the two bathrooms (two of which are en-suite): You either walk through a wardrobe hallway adorned with hearts to a shower built right into the wall, with windows providing natural light to the living area; Or you enter the supernatural green bathroom, designed for more than one person, where the shower water comes straight out of the ceiling in the centre of the room and you can step down into the large bathtub. And if you still haven't seen enough to satisfy your appetite for relaxation, squeeze yourself into the narrow staircase and climb up to Massari's attic - when someone burrows into the reading cave up there, you can forget about them for a while. The tranquil Sant Llorenç des Cardassar (San Lorenzo) and the much more touristy Cala Millor are worlds apart and yet the two towns are only a few kilometres apart. Whether you set off from Massari on your own and cycle or hike through the hills, or take a (guided) chopper tour and let us show you the best bathing spots and occasionally even get in - it's your holiday, so do what you feel like doing. On the other hand, family-run bodegas in small wine villages like Petra and Ariany and the bars and restaurants in Porto Cristo complement each other perfectly - freshly caught fish tastes twice as good with a local white wine. It should be more than enough to sustain you on the moderately difficult hike past olive groves and sheep pastures up to the 473 metre high Muntanya de Calicant, where you will see that even Mallorca itself was created by a true artist. The harmonious interplay of blue, green and earth tones acts like colour therapy until you feel like you are part of a huge work of art yourself. Massari, an impressive villa with an artistic soul and colourful furnishings and decoration, is located amidst green hills in the east of the island and yet only 3 km from the quiet Sant Llorenç with its typical Mallorcan shops and restaurants, supermarket and cash machines. The beautiful harbour of Porto Cristo also invites you to explore, while the beaches of S'Illot, Sa Coma and Cala Millor (approx. 20 minutes away by car) offer wonderful bathing opportunities in crystal-clear waters.
