Gingerbread House on Mooselookmeguntic Lake

The location of this property really cannot be beat. We stayed in the main lake house, which is stunning in an understated way. The deck looked out over the lake. The view made it look like you could dive right in. We heard loons! The side of the house facing the lake is all windows, so you really felt close to nature. There are so many cozy seating options on the main floor. It was absolutely delightful to get up, make your coffee, and settle in with a book for the morning. (I may have added a trashy novel to the bookshelves. You're welcome. Though I also enjoyed the Elizabeth Strout novel that was there.) You could get a nice breeze off the lake. We were there during a few hot days and only ran the mini-splits a bit at night. The screen doors handled the rest. The beds were comfortable. There were plenty of pillows. The washer and dryer were convenient to have. Our favorite thing was the pool table! We hadn't played in years, and our son never had. We had a great time, regardless of how terrible we were at it now. I really enjoyed the decor, and the room to entertain. Family came over for a visit and hung out on the deck with us. There is lots of seating out there, too. We normally stay in Rangeley with family once a year. Oquossoc was an adorable change. You are only about 10 minutes outside of downtown Rangeley. The country store in Oquossoc is adorable and has basics. There are even a couple of nice restaurants. But I think the best part about Oquossoc is what wasn't there: a lot of people. LOL! It may get busier after Memorial Day, but we certainly hit it right. I would love to come back and stay here for a week during the fall, as a kind of quiet, spiritual retreat. It is a lovely home in an absolutely beautiful location.

I brought my vacuum because I'm psycho and was happy I did. It's a huge place, sleeping like 8 kids and 4 couples. So it's understandable that cleaning staff missed a few areas. You're on a lake, going in and out a lot, tracking stuff in. I didn't see a vacuum left at the property, but there might have been. But again, I'm psycho about my vacuuming. Your mileage may vary. I also thoroughly cleaned the coffee maker before using, and it really needed it. But overall, everything was in good repair and tidy.
