Thames Side Flat

This was an absolute pleasure to stay in, the location was so central and convenient. Also having a little area outside right on the river was just gorgeous. Everything was very clean and tidy and had everything we needed. Karl was also super helpful when I had a query. Couldn’t fault this stay.

The location of this property is brilliant, nice and central, no road sounds, river view and little terrace to sit out. I liked the pint of milk in the fridge and the tea bags - nice simple friendly touch.

The upstairs flat had the tv on all night both nights which was a bit distracting. It could benefit from a bit of love in the decor.

The Thames Side Flat has two major virtues. In the first place, the flat faces directly onto the path at the very edge of the Thames, and the view of the river from the flat's main room (living room/bedroom) is delightful. (Moreover, there's a small veranda for enjoying the view in good weather.) Secondly, from the flat it's a short walk to the commercial centre of Oxford or to most of the colleges of the University of Oxford. It seems that the buildings along Friars Wharf were constructed in the framework of the St Ebbes redevelopment project that was undertaken in the 1960s. Clearly there have been many modifications, repairs and improvements since then to the Thames Side Flat. Now there is intermittent central heating in most of the flat, reliable WiFi/Internet, a shower with an on-demand electric heater, a microwave oven, double-pane windows and abundant modern electrical sockets. Thanks to these and other improvements, the flat certainly meets travellers' essential needs. However, although the bathroom and kitchen are certainly sufficient in size, the long corridor is not useful, the living room/bedroom is relatively small in size, and storage space is limited. Fortunately there are very many hooks throughout the flat, and there is one ageing chest-of-drawers. The kitchen is adequately equipped, and there is a small electric space heater which helps somewhat to compensate for weak and/or intermittent performance of the central heating. Checking in and out was easy. The flat was clean when we arrived. Although a notice in the flat points out that the walls are thin, our four-night stay was very peaceful.

There are two single beds, each with a wooden frame. There is no closet or wardrobe or bar for clothes hangers. There is one clothes hanger.
