Spacious Silver Spring Getaway

This home is in a wonderful location for a DC/Maryland visit. Very convenient to downtown silver spring and both the downtown silver spring and takoma metro stops are short walks. There is also a park nearby that is great for kids. This home is right on the Montgomery college campus. Parking was easy in front of the home. Home is exactly as pictured with plenty of clean towels, sheets, pillows etc and the kitchen has everything you could need for the most part. One star off of cleaning as there was a bit of an old musty smell. There is also an occupied apartment downstairs- the occupant set off the fire alarm during our stay and the driveway was occasionally blocked. Not a huge deal but good to know and also why we were not comfortable using the on site laundry which is in the basement. Overall an excellent property especially with young kids and we would definitely stay again.

We really enjoyed our stay in Silver Springs. Our host was very efficient with communicating with us and check in and check out processes were awesome. He checked in on us and asked to make sure we had everything we needed. We would definitely like to stay at this property again when we come to visit family. It was in a convenient location and a nice neighborhood by the university. The beds and pillow were very comfortable. The built-in plugs and charging stations on the beds were a big plus. A new bath mat on the floor by the bathtub is my only suggestion.

Very nice property and location. Check-in was nice and easy. There are tenants who live in the basement and they are very sensitive to sounds such as walking and/or talking in the kitchen and one of the bedrooms. You also share the driveway with them.

Parking was good. I wasn’t made aware there were downstairs tenants- there were several and they were loud pretty much all hours of the day and night. The listing shows full exclusive access to a washer and dryer- that’s not the case, they’re in the basement, shared with the tenants. I rented this property partially for the full access to the washer and dryer, and I ended up hand washing our laundry several times, bc 1) the machines were always in use, and 2) I was extremely uncomfortable going into the space of others and leaving my belongings down there with people I don’t know. The kitchen was nice, but almost unusable, as the 2 pots and 1 pan were all damaged beyond being safe. There was one baking sheet that was also gross. I ended up having to purchase a set of pots, pans, baking sheets, and all cooking utensils to use while we were there, which was obviously not what I was led to believe. The bathtub, which was a must-have for me, didn’t hold water. I had to buy a stopper in order to use it as a bathtub. The “game room” is a storage shed out back, and all of the gaming stuff is folded up and shoved to the side, and the space is filled with other stuff. Please note that this house is in a busy neighborhood. There were many other issues that we had while we were there, but it’s not worth going into at this point. If you choose to stay here, ask a LOT of questions so you’re abundantly clear on what you’re getting, bc it is far from what is advertised.
