If you want a place to relax and live an authentic experience, Marinthara is perfect for you. This is a hidden gem, so there are not many people over there. Don't be afraid of the logistics, sounds more difficult than it actually is (they provide boat to take you from Thung La-ong pier and tektek to the hotel). You'll have all meals at the hotel, and all I tried was delicious, fresh, well prepared. Fang and her family makes you feel really welcome, they took me to the mangrove, to fishing at the river and sea, collect mushrooms, and I could really understand how that fishing community live. They also have kayaking, stand up paddle, ATV and more. The bedroom is really comfortable and clean, with AC. It was the perfect ending for my trip to Thailand!

The Marinthara home stay is amazingly beautiful and outstanding: the houses are comfortable, the beach is clean, the food in the restaurant is fresh, home made, diverse and delicious. But what really makes this place a rare jewel, is the family running it. They are so generous and good-hearted. Their wish to share their culture, traditions and deep knowledge about the animals and plants around them, makes this stay as much relaxing as interesting and adventurous. We stayed 10 days with our three-year-old daughter and none was like another. We had shared bathroom with two other rooms. This was definitely a big highlight on our trip.

Nothing we didn't like but good to know: there is no supermarket closeby and you better bring what you need with you. Still, the family is very helpful.

Fang is amazingly hospitable and helpful, and her family are all lovely and welcoming. Her sisters food was the best we've had in Thailand, and the beds and rooms are really nice and comfy. The island itself is incredible and very wild, deserted beaches, hornbills and other great birds and wildlife. The activities are great also - we did kayaking through the mangrove which was really interesting and fun. We won't ever forget our stay here!
