Santa Margarita is a district of Roses that has long sandy beaches and coves. Lovers of water activities will not be left out: scuba diving, kayaking, sailing, windsurfing or snorkeling are popular thanks to a well-adapted coast.
The emblematic site is the Ciutadella de Roses: an ancient fortress that bears witness to the ancient history of the city — with remains ranging from Greek, Roman, medieval and modern times.
Nearby, the Castell de la Trinitat offers an interesting view of the bay and reminds us of the historical strategic importance of Roses.
For lovers of ancient history, the area around Roses is home to an important megalithic complex (dolmens, menhirs, ancient tombs), including the Dolmen de la Creu d'en Cobertella — one of the oldest funerary monuments in Catalonia.
Walking through the narrow streets of the old town, discovering the local architecture (traditional houses, churches, monuments) add a cultural and authentic dimension to a "seaside" stay.
By combining sea, nature and land, Roses offers a good balance for those who want to vary the pleasures: beach, hiking, nature, history — without the need to change location several times.
Roses has pleasant tourist infrastructures: seafront promenade with restaurants, bars, cafes, shops... perfect for relaxed evenings after the beach.
For local markets: a market every Sunday, ideal for discovering fresh, artisanal or souvenir products — a little extra to soak up the local way of life.
