About this vacation rental

Alte Schmiede

You will spend your holiday on a former farm, built around the turn of the century (1900). After reunification, it was used as a horse farm for almost 20 years. Large parts of the farm have been renovated. The farm is in a very quiet location in the village of Weddin with 87 inhabitants. At night you can only hear the animals in the forest. This beautiful four-sided farm is nestled in the beautiful foothills of the Fläming. Surrounded by large, species-rich forests and cultivated landscapes. The Hoher Fläming Nature Park Centre (Tourist Info) in the village of Raben is just 17 km away, as is Rabenstein Castle (first mentioned in 1251). There are countless kilometres of hiking trails and cycle paths in the Hoher Fläming Nature Park. Not far from the village of Weddin (approx. 12 km) is the Lutherstadt Wittenberg with its many sights. The town church, the castle church, the Luther House and the Melanchthon House are UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The Garden Kingdom of Dessau - Wörlitz (approx. 15 km), also a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is definitely worth a visit. One of the most beautiful biosphere reserves in Germany can be found near Dessau, the UNESCO biosphere reserve "Mittelelbe". The distances to the following cultural and historical centres such as Berlin (80 km), Potsdam (70 km) and Leipzig (90 km) should not go unmentioned. The "Alte Schmiede" holiday home is actually an old smithy. The building was built around the turn of the century (1900) and served as a smithy and iron workshop for many decades. However, there is not much left of it. The building was extensively renovated from 2020 to 2023. This included complete insulation of the building and the roof, a PV system and electric heating. Most of the electricity required for this is produced, stored and used by the owners themselves. Of course, the holiday home also has a cosy fireplace. In addition to the entrance area with reading corner, the sauna area with shower and large indoor whirlpool is located on the ground floor. Next to it, in a large room with an automatic roller shutter, you will find the two e-bikes for your excursions in the beautiful surroundings. A staircase leads to the living/dining and kitchen area. The kitchen is equipped with everything you would expect at home. Cooker, oven, dishwasher, microwave, coffee machine, toaster and water heater. There is plenty of crockery for 4 people. You can enjoy your prepared meals at the attached counter or at the dining table. The spacious, open-plan room also includes a seating area with a large TV and sound system. The bathroom with toilet, bidet, shower and washbasin is also located on the first floor. The washing machine and tumble dryer are also housed here. Directly next to the bathroom is the cosy bedroom, also equipped with a TV. A staircase leads from the bedroom to the converted loft. There is a further sleeping area in the loft. Directly at the holiday home, or in the courtyard of the four-sided courtyard, you will find your own terrace with barbecue, or a fireplace where you can spend the quiet and peaceful evenings by the crackling of a campfire. You will find further seating and relaxation areas in the courtyard. There is also a large whirlpool in the courtyard. This can also be used by guests. Wonderfully relaxing after a long cycle tour. There are 2 e-bikes available at the holiday home. Free wifi in the property.
