About this vacation rental

Stivan

The holiday home is located in the centre of the old shepherd's village of Stivan on the Croatian island of Cres. The sea is just a 15-minute walk away along a picturesque winding road. You can be there in 5 minutes by car. The house is located directly in the old village centre near the church and next to the grocery shop. In front of the house there is a meadow with olive trees and in the surrounding area there are green fields, macchia-covered rocky land and old sheep pastures. Hiking, herb picking and cycling tours are possible in the immediate neighbourhood. Water sports such as diving, snorkelling or windsurfing down by the sea. There is a spacious barbecue area under a beautiful archway on the forecourt. You can also set up tables and chairs from the balcony and eat right next to the barbecue. There is a washing line in the garden for drying wet laundry directly in the sun. The old shepherd's house was lovingly restored in 2016 in its original style, combining modern comfort with the charm of days gone by. It has two bedrooms, a bathroom with shower/bathtub, a large kitchen and a living room with balcony. From the two bedrooms on the upper floor, you can look directly over the vine leaves, rosemary and the village roofs down to the sea. Both beds are double beds and, like the furniture, are partly original pieces from the beginning of the last century. Mattresses and pillows are of course modern and have just been renewed. The bathroom is also on the upper floor and is located in the corridor between the two rooms; it has a small window that also faces the sea. The large kitchen with dining area is on the ground floor and is equipped with all modern conveniences. The special charm lies in the preservation of the old fire hob with smoke extractor, into which the modern electric cooker is now integrated. Here, too, you will find antique furniture mixed with modern pieces that create a very special atmosphere. The living room is located opposite the kitchen, connected by the hallway. There is a sofa bed on which another person can sleep. A flatscreen TV with satellite reception is also available here. The balcony leads off the living room, where there is another dining area and from which you have a wonderful view over the fig tree to the church and the old sheep pastures in the distance. The church and a highly recommended Croatian restaurant are in the immediate vicinity. In the neighbouring villages by the sea you can enjoy other beautiful beaches (including a nudist beach), there are cafés, a wide variety of restaurants, supermarkets, a post office and cash machines. In addition to the various beaches, there are other small pebble bays to discover along the coast. You can hire boats and sail from bay to bay. But nature also beckons away from the water with hikes, walks and cycle tours. Blooming lavender and sage, old pine trees and rosemary bushes make nature a special treat.
