Grade II listed and full of rustic character, the cottage has been beautifully updated to combine traditional charm with modern comfort. Surrounded by far-reaching views of the Devon countryside, it’s ideally positioned within walking distance of the Grand Western Canal Country Park and a network of scenic walks.
Inside, the cottage exudes warmth and character at every turn. The cosy living room features a smart TV, wood burner, and charming window seat -perfect for relaxing after a day exploring. The open-plan kitchen and dining area next door is fully equipped with modern appliances, including a coffee machine, dishwasher, and blender, while retaining a country-cottage feel.
Upstairs, you’ll find two inviting bedrooms: one king and one double with an ensuite shower room, both offering ample storage and views over the garden. A second bathroom downstairs features a luxurious roll-top bath surrounded by calming blue panelling - the perfect spot to unwind.
Outside, the large, well-maintained garden provides a tranquil retreat with a lawn, patio, and outdoor seating area for dining al fresco. There’s gated parking on the driveway for up to three cars.
With two excellent pubs nearby, one known for great food and another for its friendly village atmosphere, this charming home is a wonderful base to enjoy the beauty and peace of rural Devon.

This cottage in Whitnage offers a peaceful countryside escape in the heart of rural Devon, surrounded by rolling hills, scenic walks, and charming villages. Just a short drive away, the Grand Western Canal Country Park provides miles of towpath walks, ideal for cycling, running, or leisurely strolls along the tranquil waters. You can even enjoy kayaking or paddleboarding on the canal, or simply watch the wildlife and passing canal boats.
Nearby Sampford Peverell is a delightful village with picturesque cottages, a lovely church, and The Globe Inn, a friendly pub and restaurant serving hearty meals and local ales. Great for lunch or a relaxed evening meal after exploring.
The nearby town of Tiverton offers more to see and do, including Tiverton Castle, dating back to the 1100s, and the Tiverton Museum of Mid Devon Life, which gives a fascinating insight into the area’s heritage. From Tiverton, you can also take a trip on the horse-drawn barge, a unique way to experience the canal.
For walkers, Exmoor National Park and the Blackdown Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty are both within easy reach, offering miles of breathtaking trails. Fancy a trip to the coast? That's easy enough, too! Whitnage is equidistant between the north and south Devon coastlines, as well as west Somerset. The seaside town of Sidmouth is around 45 minutes south, whereas the popular surfing beaches of North Devon, such as Woolacombe, are a little over an hour north. The historic medieval town of Dunster is similarly around 1 hour north on the west Somerset coastline.

Getting Around:
We would recommend bringing a car to make the most of your stay. There is parking for up to 3 cars on the gated driveway. The surrounding streets are also unrestricted.
Other Things to Note:
We welcome up to 2 well-behaved dogs. It is on the condition that they are not allowed on any of the soft furnishings or upstairs. If you would like to bring more, please get in touch with the details and we will consider your request.
