ichi Mimitsu

The best stay during our holidays, very very nice! This renovated house in a small town with many traditional houses is just perfect and it was a real pleasure to stay here. The host is fantastic, speaks very good English and explained many things. The little restaurant in front of the house was also great, enjoyed a good meal with very friendly owners. The traditional style of the house and the little terrace outside makes this a wonderful place to stay. If we ever come back to Kyushu, we would definitely book again!

Only a small thing: if you’re tall then you’ll need to watch out a little for the doorframes that are fairly low. But no worries, it’s often like this in Japan 😄

If you want to stay in a traditional Japanese house, love the modern and minimalist Japanese aesthetic, value beauty and peace - this is the place for you. ••• Ichi Mimitsu is a traditional Japanese style house, located in the Mimitsu Old Town District, surrounded by quiet streets and historic structures. The atmosphere of this place is truly unique. Once you pass through its shoji (sliding doors), you step inside history accompanied by all of the necessary modern amenities. The house is styled beautifully and functionally, everything is new and clean, you can feel that the house was renovated in a thoughtful way, with attention to detail. If you like the style of Muji, you’ll feel right at home here. Also delightful is the charming little garden, a perfect place to drink green tea, enjoy the silence, birdsong, the smell of citrus blossoms and the sunshine. It’s worth pointing out that right across from Ichi Mimitsu, 5m from the entrance, there is a restaurant called Hinataya, run by its lovely owners, where we ate such delicious dishes that we still think about them to this day. Adjacent to the restaurant is a charming shop/café, also worth a visit. Other parts of the neighborhood include a museum which tells the history of Mimitsu, a modern-style cafe with Italian coffee, and many historical sites. I would like to thank Yosuke, the host of Ichi Mimitsu, who took the best care of us in the world, providing tips, advice, and friendly conversation. Ichi Mimitsu was a wonderful experience that deserves the highest rating. Everything was perfect.
