About this house rental
Step into history and stay at the Colonel May Schoolhouse. Built in 1922 and newly established in 2025. Col. May Schoolhouse offers 3 bedrooms (with 5 regular beds, twin roll away bed and 2 queen air mattresses), 2 full bathrooms, 2 family rooms, office, library and reading area. Take a recess on our outdoor playground with a basketball court, swing set and tetherball pole. Enjoy a study break playing arcade games, sitting on the back deck or at the firepit with breathtaking countryside views. Have a school dance next to our vintage jukebox!
Colonel May Schoolhouse provides a unique opportunity to be a part of history and explore an old school that operated until the late 1960's. View the photo gallery of original pictures including Colonel May, students and teachers that once roamed the halls. The outdoor space has a playground style swing set with 2 swings, basketball court and tetherball pole.
Situated near Viroqua, this holiday home is close to Sidie Hollow Park, Duck Egg County Forest and Vernon Vineyards. Less than 4 miles west of Viroqua, WI and only 1 mile from Sidie Hollow Park. 10 minute drive to Viroqua Hills Golf Course.
Parking allows for about 5-6 cars. Washer and dryer are available in the house. Back deck has a large table and chairs for outdoor dining, Fire pit with 8 chairs, board games available inside and a TV in almost every room!
Beds can sleep 7 guests with additional options for guests to sleep on 2 oversized couches and 2 queen air mattresses if needed.

My wife and I really enjoyed staying at the Old School House. A wonderful combination retaining the old architecture and blending modern elements. The kitchen and bathrooms were amazing! The house lends itself to family gatherings. I would definitely book this place again!

Unique setting in an old schoolhouse. Great kitchen space. Nice touches such as a jukebox, video games, basketball court, and wonderful book selection. Furniture in living was very comfortable and a great space to hang out.

The old school house is magnificent! This is definitely a premier property! Clean, spacious, dog friendly and stunning. It would be the perfect place for a quiet retreat for crafters or book lovers. So much history in the building itself and the amenities are top notch. I can't say enough about this home!! The host was quick to respond and very helpful. We enjoyed every minute of our stay. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!
