NEIGHBORHOOD

Midnight Borgo is located in an area full of bars and restaurants, near Como San Giovanni train station. You can easily walk to the main tourist attractions, enjoy a stroll along the lake, and discover many nearby restaurants and bars.

GETTING AROUND

For guests' convenience, we recommend arriving by car. However, since there is no private parking, public parking options nearby may need to be used.

From Como San Giovanni train station, it is easy to reach Milan and other destinations by train. Also, ferries depart from the Como pier to other lakeside towns. Please note: if you are traveling during high season, we recommend patience due to long lines at the ticket office (especially in Como town). Tickets can also be purchased online from the Navigazione Laghi website.

Unfortunately, most public transportation services stop before 10:00 p.m., and ferries stop even earlier. Taxis are also available, though they are not always easy to find in the region.

The nearest airports are Milan Malpensa, Milan Linate, and Orio al Serio in Bergamo. A direct shuttle service to and from the airport can be arranged at an additional cost.

For any transport-related questions, feel free to contact us—we’ll be happy to help you reach your preferred destination!

TIPS

We recommend dedicating a day to visiting the beautiful towns around the lake. Como city is the urban center of the area, but the small lakeside towns are gems with stunning villas.

To move around and explore Lake Como—especially in the smaller towns—comfortable shoes are essential.

There are many public fountains with drinking water in the area, and the water is safe to drink unless otherwise indicated. Tap water is also potable. Feel free to bring your own reusable bottle!

If you're looking for a relatively easy hike with beautiful mountain views, the Greenway del Lago di Como is an easy-to-follow path that connects lakeside towns from Colonno to Griante and doesn't involve many steep climbs. A bus will take you to the starting point in Colonno.

You can also reach Brunate by funicular. From the village, there are several hiking trails ranging from easy to challenging.

Look for traditional restaurants where you can taste local dishes, especially those featuring fish from Lake Como.

In Italy, many shops (especially small ones) and services close at midday, so plan your shopping accordingly.

Lake Como is one of the deepest lakes in Europe and the deepest in Italy. Swimming and diving are prohibited in many areas and can be dangerous. However, there are some options for those who want to enjoy the water. Check out the Lido di Villa Olmo. There are also beaches in other towns. The Lido di Bellagio and the pebbly beach in San Giovanni await those who wish to travel and explore the beautiful town of Bellagio, located at the center of the two lake branches. Locals and visitors also enjoy going to Nesso, where brave swimmers can dive into the lake from the ancient Roman bridge near the waterfall.

Lake Como is in a mountainous region. Although the nearby pre-Alps don’t seem very high, the climate is still affected by the surrounding mountains, and temperatures can change quickly. Pay close attention to weather conditions when hiking, and bring warm, waterproof clothing!
