Relaxing Island Colony Waikiki High-Rise 1BR with Split AC & Full Kitchen

The unit has a well equipped kitchen so we cooked in. Convenient location also. The unit has a rather inflexible access system. The same code for all guests so the owners do not want to give out the code in advance. Old school in this day and age of WiFi enabled access locks. We were arriving late at night on a long international flight so wanted the code in advance. The owner was reluctant at first but then thankfully agreed to send the code by WhatsApp before we boarded our flight. One less thing to worry about late at night after a long flight. If you are arriving on a long flight and not able to get the code in transit, good to know the owner can be flexible and send via WhatsApp.

We arrived in the dark very late at night and most of the lights had been unplugged. A bit disconcerting when you try to switch on the hights and nothing happens and have to crawl around the floor untangling a jumble of cables to get the standard lamps around the room working before you can settle in for the night. We found the bed way too soft for us. We managed to sleep ok, but if you are used to a firm mattress be prepared for a surprise.

Location! Very close to International Market and short walk to the beach, shopping and restaurants in Waikiki. Easy parking when we had a rental car. Clean unit. AC worked well. Comfy bed (once we took off the foam mattress topper). It was too soft and hot for us with the foam thing on.

The shower was small. That’s about our only complaint. It worked well and did the job, it was just small.
