Onnela Homestay Sauna Cottage

Incredible location! It’s outside of the city area so you don’t have a lot of light pollution and better chances to see the northern lights. It was a charming cottage with incredible customer service from our host! 10/10 would recommend.

Uns hat besonders gefallen, dass die Unterkunft etwas außerhalb liegt und perfekt von wunderschöner Natur umgeben ist, das verleiht ihr einen besonderen Charme. Außerdem war der persönliche Kontakt zu Raisa großartig - sie war herzlich, hilfsbereit und hatte tolle Empfehlungen für uns. Anfangs waren wir etwas unsicher, ob es ohne fließendes Wasser problematisch sein könnte aber das war kein Problem, es gab immer genug Waser und auch das Duschen in der Sauna war sehr entspannt.

Der Stauraum ist etwas begrenzt, das sollte man bei sehr großen Koffern beachten. Aber zu zweit ist das eigentlich kein Problem und Raisa hat auch bereits Ideen, um das noch zu verbessern.

Staying at Raisa and Kalle’s cottage north-west of Rovaniemi was an absolutely magical experience. The property is modern, clean and well equipped. Watching the aurora borealis from bed was incredible, we had our own private sauna which was just perfect after a cold day out exploring Rovaniemi and surrounds. Raisa and Kalle are fantastic hosts, always willing to help plan our days and make sure we had everything we needed at the cottage. Onnela Homestay was easy enough to get to via car or bus, and has a grocery store less than 10 minutes drive away. Make sure to bring some marshmallows to roast on the open fire in the lean-to, and cross your fingers for the aurora to shine overhead!

This place is amazing to stay in Rovaniemi. The cottage is brand new and the private sauna every evening make it even more confortable. The landscape around the cottage is beautiful and peaceful. Raisa and her husband were amazing throughout our stay. I can only recommend this accommodation !
