Seabliss

This was a great property location wise, only a few minute's walk from the beach, cafe and a great kids playing area. Most of what we needed was available, though things like a colander, kitchen knife, salad servers, the basics were not there. Future guests should be advised prior that they will need to bring a fair amount of basics to have a reasonable stay. There were a lot of broken items and random lids with no pots and vice versa which did make meal prep a little difficult. Things like cling wrap, tinfoil were not available and the hand soap dispenser near the toilet was filled with water and not soap. The outdoor fire pit was a hit however there was no wood or even a lighter to start a fire. We managed to get the last bag from the hardware store on day 3 of our stay so people should bring wood with them to save disappointment. There is plenty of grassed area around the house and the yard was well maintained. The garage with pool table even though in a terrible state was great for the kids. They made do. The bikes in the pictures were a definite draw card when booking, however when we got there, they were all broken or tires popped/flat. Lucky, we bought 2 of our 4 bikes so someone had something to ride. The beds were ample sleeping up to 8 guests though we did not need to use all of these. The bunks however were so dangerous and needed some TLC or at least someone to tighten them up as they squeaked all night!

The cleanliness of the property was very poor. 3 out of the 4 beds had used linen on them. One of the double beds had clearly just been slept on with imprints of a person on them, hair and stains. All linen on one bed needed to be completely stripped as covers had blood on them. The linen on one bed was changed the night we arrived so there was somewhere clean to sleep. The other was returned half hour later stating they'd been "sanitised" however not sure what that meant. All the pillows on the lounge were heavily stained and also needed to be removed by the person who changed the bed linen on night one as they also agreed they were in a bad state. We found used and stained handtowels in the bathroom and same in the kitchen. I offered to wash all of these but was told not to, notwithstanding there was no clothes powder and no advice that we needed to bring our own. There were some very basic supplies in the kitchen that appeared to be left by other guests and what was in the cupboard included one condiment that had expired in 2022. There were dead bugs, bug droppings, unvacuumed floors and just general lack of years of no cleaning. The cleaning fee was refunded and we were grateful for that. As we never like to leave a property in any other state than with a demonstration of respect for the property owner, we spent quite some time cleaning, cleaned dishes that had been put back dirty by the previous guest which we were advised was the owner etc etc. Two power outages in our stay was a challenge including the planned outage starting at 730am on our last day which we were advised would go all day. While this is no one's fault, it did mean we had to get up at 630am to pack the car and get out of the property by 730am even though check out was 10am. The property manager was responsive on some matters but elusive on others. The two previous reviews of 9.5/10 are unfounded.
