ANN GARDEN RETREAT by Secret Garden Cat Ba

We had a wonderful stay at Ann Garden Retreat. The entire staff is incredibly kind and attentive, and the whole place is so beautiful. Another plus is the cute animals that live there. The food may be a bit more expensive than elsewhere, but the family dinner was the best meal we’ve had in Vietnam so far. If we ever come back to Cat Ba, we’ll definitely stay here again!

Staff were very friendly, helped with bus booking from Hanoi, motorbike rental and tour booking too. The property itself is a special oasis on the island - really beautifully and thoughtfully designed.

Breakfast was very basic. The property is quite far from amenities so unless you rent a moped, book tours or take 150k VND taxis, it’s difficult to get around.

Located outside Cat Ba Town, which we actually preferred as it was much quieter and less touristy. You can easily get there by taxi (around 120,000 VND) or local bus. The property is beautifully decorated, and the rooms are spacious and comfortable. We also booked a boat trip through the homestay, which was excellent and the highlight of our stay.

The room had a noticeable damp smell. It would be great if the owners could find a way to improve this. It was fine for a short stay, but we probably wouldn’t want to spend a longer period in a damp room. Breakfast was good, although the selection was somewhat limited, and drinks were not included.

Sono arrivata in questa struttura sotto consiglio di un amico conosciuto durante il viaggio. Aveva ragione a dire che è un posto magico. La posizione è un po' fuori rispetto al paese di CatBa ma credo sia una cosa molto positiva, non ho comunque avuto problemi a raggiungerlo con bus pubblico e scooter. Ho alloggiato nella camerata, tutto nuovo e pulitissimo. Estremamente consigliato. Consiglio vivamente anche la "cena in famiglia", rapporto qualità-prezzo molto buona e l'host è veramente molto ospitale. E' qualcosa di inspiegabile la magia che ha il posto: la struttura, i colori, i suoni, i gatti e le persone. Eccezionale, grazie mille, ci tornerò sicuramente!
