I was in a bit of a bind the week before I went to Udaipur. The property I had originally booked with was no longer taking guests and didn't give me much notice. When I got to the Niruma Villa, I was pleasantly surprised. Absolutely everything is done to a very high standard. The breakfast was freshly prepared each morning, staff were helpful and the mattress was extremely comfortable. The property is very clean and well-maintained. Although a bit far from the centre, it's easy to travel by cab. The neighbourhood is quiet and there are some decent markets close-by.
A few things could be clearer. For example, I was asked if I wanted chai. What wasn't made clear was that it would be charged to my tab. Although not overly expensive for the quality, it was a bit of a surprise as in similar properties, chai and coffee were either a part of the service, or the price was clearly stated. Sound-proofing wasn't the best.
