Carkeet Cottage

Comfortable, pleasant cottage. Good location. Own space on a big block. Well equipped kitchen. Coffee maker was an added bonus. Prompt response when we needed to contact owners. Comfy beds. The herb garden was delightful. The wood supply was very impressive!

If the lawn had been mowed it would have been more pleasing to the eye and less wet under foot. Shower base in ensuite was quite slippery (we had an 80 year old with us) - a non-slip mat would remedy that. The lounge room could have been made more welcoming - but it served it's purpose.

Carkeet Cottage was an excellent getaway with the dogs, such a perfect place with a large secure yard. Everything was easy and Leanne the host was a great communicator. We hadn't seen Heathcote before, the cottage is really old and has a rustic charm that really suits the area. The fire in the yard and the pizza oven were a novelty. Really close to the main town - walking distance and a bit of a drive to the surrounding vineyards. The kitchen was well equiped, we were warm and the beds were comfortable.

Nothing much, although the lounge is at the back of the house and the view to the yard is from the kitchen area, thats the architecture and we were not asking for a house with a view, this is an old cottage that was built way before all of those considerations I would imagine.

I was hesitant to book the property based on the last review. That review couldn’t be further from the truth. The property was clean, the sheets and towels were great quality. The beds were comfortable. The kitchen was really well equipped. There was a fantastic herb garden and massive backyard for our dogs. It had great trees and lots of bird life. The pizza oven and fire pit were great, with a generous supply of fire wood. We visited the local pub, Chauncey, and local vineyards, all within a short distance from the property. We would happily stay again.
