Old Lakenham by Group Retreats

We are a group of walkers who stayed here for 3 nights. The property is spacious both inside and out. The pool is a good temperature and was well used as was the hot tub. The kitchen is well with stocked glasses, china etc for large numbers and a nice area to gather. The dining room was a perfect size for us.

The BBQ was not useable. The information in the house is minimal but any queries were responded to promptly.

We recently stayed at Old Lakenham for a family cottage trip during the second week of April, and overall, we had a wonderful time—helped in no small part by the beautiful sunshine throughout our stay. The house itself was very spacious, with the kitchen naturally becoming the heart of the home where everyone gathered. There was certainly no shortage of televisions, which meant everyone could relax and enjoy their own space when needed. The grounds were great for the children—plenty of space to play and, importantly, they felt safe and secure. We made good use of the swimming pool and jacuzzi, which were both fantastic additions and really enhanced the experience. The pool house was also a great feature, and the cabin—luckily included in the price—was a lovely bonus that all of my nephews especially enjoyed. A special thank you to Ash, the owner, who met us upon arrival and made us feel very welcome. He was also quick to come to our rescue when the sink became blocked, which we really appreciated. Overall, a memorable family stay with plenty of highlights, and a great place for bringing everyone together.

There are just a couple of areas that could be improved. The gym/games room felt a bit crowded and could do with some TLC. The sofa beds weren’t the most comfortable, although the bedrooms themselves were spacious and the main beds were large and comfortable.
