⭐ Appalling — juSTa Kashi Parampara, Assi Ghat
We chose juSTa Kashi Parampara primarily for its excellent location near Assi Ghat. Unfortunately, the location is about the only thing this hotel has going for it.
The hotel clearly positions itself as a property suitable for an international clientele. It absolutely is not. The service is extremely local in its approach, communication is casual and dismissive, and the management seems completely incapable of understanding what genuine hospitality means.
The most basic requirement — water in the bathroom — was simply not available. During our two-night stay, we could not take a shower even once. There was no hot water at all, and the cold water came in spurts before stopping altogether. Worse, every staff member gave us a different explanation for why the water wasn’t working.
We were out in Varanasi for 6–7 hours a day, walking 10,000–15,000 steps, visiting temples and experiencing the city. To return to a hotel and be unable to take a shower is not a minor inconvenience. It is unacceptable.
The bathrooms are unbelievably tiny, cleanliness is poor and housekeeping is inadequate. The management response was even more disappointing — excuses, inconsistent explanations and virtually no ownership of the problem.
And then there is the taxi service. We paid ₹1,500 for an airport pickup arranged by the hotel. For our return, we booked an Uber ourselves and paid ₹740. Uber and Rapido are readily available, and rickshaws are often the easiest way to get around the city. There is simply no justification for such a premium.
Please also don’t be taken in by the complimentary meals offered by the hotel. A free meal is not compensation for being unable to bathe. More importantly, the water problem was not properly disclosed or acknowledged at check-in.
A hotel can have a beautiful location, attractive interiors and all the frills — but water, cleanliness, basic service and competent management are not frills. They are fundamentals.
If you are considering staying here, please call the hotel and specifically confirm that the bathroom has a reliable supply of both hot and cold water before booking.
For us, this was an appalling hotel experience and one we would not repeat.
