The Diamond Retreat

The house is large and light and was perfect for our use. We needed a base for attending a nearby wedding and it served our family well. The rooms are large and comfortable.

The kitchen was rather sparsely equipped. Nice stove and oven with lots of pots, but no salad bowls, serving platters, chopping boards, insufficient mugs, no washing up liquid, dishwasher tabs or tea towels. All minor things, but would have made our stay more enjoyable.

We absolutely loved our stay at The Diamond Retreat. The property is beautifully designed, spotless, and feels very private and peaceful. The outdoor space was a real highlight – perfect for relaxing and enjoying the surroundings. Everything was thoughtfully prepared and very comfortable, which made our stay feel special from the moment we arrived. The location is convenient yet quiet, ideal for a relaxing getaway.

Honestly, there was very little to fault. If anything, we would have loved to stay longer!

The hot tub was inoperable due to unforeseen issues, which would have been an extra touch to our splendid stay.

I was informed that the house was very clean and very spacious

I booked this property for my work team and the entire experience was stressful from start to finish. First issue: false advertising. The listing shows a hot tub and outdoor amenities with no mention of extra charges. When I asked, I was told there were fees for the “jacuzzi” and BBQ, even though there is no jacuzzi/hot tub on the property at all. I sent screenshots showing this, and the host admitted the information “may not be listed clearly,” which is unacceptable. Second issue: communication was unprofessional. The host refused to answer the phone all day but replied instantly on WhatsApp. Every time I asked for a call, I was told “message only,” even though they were clearly available. This caused huge concern as my team were arriving after a long workday. Third issue: chaotic check‑in. I had to provide repeated ID copies (mine, the guest’s, plus a selfie outside the property). Despite paying the £495 deposit immediately, they still refused to give the key code in advance. I explained several times that my team could be left waiting outside — the host still wouldn’t help. Fourth issue: hidden fees & contradictions. The host introduced a security deposit mid‑conversation (not listed on Booking.com). They constantly contradicted themselves about hot tub setup, weather, charges, and phone availability, making everything more confusing and time‑consuming. Overall: This was one of the most stressful check‑in processes I’ve ever managed — misleading listing, hidden charges, refusal to talk, slow responses, unnecessary ID demands, and no willingness to reassure or support guests. I would not book this property again and recommend Booking.com review the accuracy of the listing.
