The cottage is very spacious, in a great location, very close to the entrance road to the observatory and also short drive to Kielder waterside. It has parking and a lovely garden. It is next to a petrol station which has a small shop for essentials and is walking distance to Kielder Castle, bike hire and also a pub which normally does food, unfortunately while we were there the kitchen was closed.
The only issue I found with the cottage is the staircase which is quite steep and the handrail or bannister only went halfway up, so coming down from the top felt a bit nervous as there is nothing to hold on to.

Comfortable clean and spacious house, right in the village. Good to have off road parking.
Felt very strange to have 3 cameras pointing straight into the house.
The garden could be lovely but it’s completely overgrown and looks neglected.
No washing line or even a clothes horse in the house although there is a washing machine.
No towel rail in downstairs bathroom.

Board games, guitar and telescope were a nice bonus
Just lacked a bit of thought… for example, great that there was a washing machine but no basket, no pegs, no washing line or air dryer. So we washed clothes but had to drape them over the garden chairs and hope they didn’t blow away!
Similarly, there wasn’t anywhere in one of the bathrooms to hang a towel - not even for a hand towel.
Not the fault of the owners but there was a bird/squirrel(?) trapped in the loft and the noise freaked out the children and disturbed everyone’s sleep so they ended up on the sofas.
