The hosts are really nice and took good care of me. The appartment is spacious and has everything required. The bed is good, which is most important to me. The fridge is big, the gas stove works great. If you are planning to cook yourself, I recommend bringing your favorite knifes and gadgets. The location is not touristy, rather, you'll live among normal Italians. A large supermarket and a shop for all kinds of appliances are close, but not in walking distance. The gas station is 2 minutes away and hosts a cafe and restaurant. The location is ideal for exploring the southern and eastern part of the Alpi Apuane.

The water pressure is a little on the low side, which did not bother me much. Pieve Foscana requires a vehicle for almost everything. Nobody walks there, they all use their scooters, which you will hear in the evening and morning hours. For a more cosy historic village and touristic atmosphere, you'll have to drive to Castelnuovo di Garfagnana.
