About this house rental

Summary:

Wake up to 360° mountain views and fall asleep under some of the darkest skies in Texas. This colorful 3-bedroom, 2-bath Terlingua retreat is designed for connection with a hot tub, fire ring, two king bedrooms, two twin beds, a fully equipped kitchen, and expansive outdoor living spaces perfect for cooking, gathering, and stargazing. Just a 15-minute drive from Big Bend National Park, it’s the ideal adventure base for groups of friends, couples, or families who want to experience the desert in comfort and style.

The Space:

Colorful 3BR desert retreat in Terlingua with 360° mountain views, a massive outdoor patio, and star-filled skies. Perfect for groups or families exploring Big Bend who want to cook, gather, and soak up the beauty of the desert.

• Outdoor Oasis: A massive patio with a hot tub and a fire ring surrounded by six Adirondack chairs, a covered outdoor kitchen (deep basin sink, fridge, Weber BBQ pit), and a 12-person dining table. Perfect for yoga at sunrise, a campfire at night, and endless stargazing.

• Bedrooms & Baths: Two king bedrooms with blackout curtains and striking mountain views, plus a third bedroom with two twin beds. Two full bathrooms with large showerheads for your group’s comfort. The bathroom shared by the two king bedrooms has in-floor heating.

• Living Areas: Two indoor living rooms provide plenty of space to relax and socialize.

• Indoor Kitchen: Fully equipped and designed with a long buffet counter and picture windows to bring the outside in.

• Views: Christmas Mountains from the back patio, Yellow Mountain from the kitchen and drive, and desert vistas in every direction.

Two important considerations:

1) High clearance vehicles are recommended. The final mile of the drive to the house is on rocky roads with some small hills and some loose rock. A typical sedan can make the drive if the driver is cautious.

2) The rental consists of two separate buildings, connected by a large patio space. This may be of concern to some guests, especially families with small children. See the floorplan in the photos for reference.

SECURITY CAMERAS: There are two security cameras outside of the property. One views the parking area and one views the driveway.

LOCAL AREA:

Located on 20 private and seclude acres with unspoiled mountain views and dark skies.

12 miles (15 minutes) to the Maverick Junction entrance to Big Bend National Park or the historic Terlingua Ghost Town

A NOTE FROM THE PROPERTY OWNERS:

As locals, we love this land and built this home with care to reflect the vibrant spirit of the Big Bend region. It’s colorful, a little quirky, and full of heart — just like the desert itself. We hope you’ll feel welcome here, and that your time under these wide-open skies leaves you rested, inspired, and connected.

We loved our stay here! The scenery was magnificent and we couldn't believe the size of the mountains right outside our windows! Everything exceeded our expectations but one thing really stood out for us- the attention to detail. Everything was intentionally placed. The decor looked like an interior designer came in with her magic wand! Online pictures don't do it justice! The air conditioning was terrific. We had no trouble keeping it cool. We spent most of our stay outside in the outdoor kitchen/dining room and by the fire pit. It was so quiet! It was unfortunate that our visit was over a full moon which completely blocked the stargazing. So if you book you may want to check on that. The home and outdoor space was very clean. There were basic condiments left by other guests: ketchup, mustard, syrup, mayo, salt, pepper and some olive oil. So if you want to cook bring your own spices for sure. Coffee and filters were provided in addition to cocktail equipment, corkscrew and paper towels. If you choose to buy water, three of us were there for 3 nights and we went thru roughly a case of water each day. That was taking some with us while out and about and using it for coffee in the morning. Other particulars: the beds were very comfortable and towels were plentiful and fluffy, We were happy we rented a pickup truck. The road would be really hard on a regular car. The road was steep in spots, full of ruts, rocks and gravel. Stay here. You won't be disappointed!!

The views were beautiful and great for stargazing. Great place for 6. The patio was nice for meals and games. Convenient to Big Bend National park. It’s very secluded but fairly easy to get to and very clean. We all enjoyed our stay.
