Nice Hostel for a stay in the Bay of Islands

Really Bad

The worst backpackers’ place. We had a long wait to check‑in, there was no one at reception and they didn't answer the phone. Customer service was very poor, the manager was quite rude. The room cleanliness was terrible: the shower didn't work properly as the water wouldn’t drain, the floor felt sticky, the headboard had several centimetres of dust… Overall, it was a very disappointing experience. Extremely expensive for how bad it was. We ended up leaving a day earlier than our checkout date.

Mainly the cleanliness and general fact that I couldn’t see the staff around regularly. On the day I checked in, my hostel dorm room and en-suite in there was not clean - the bathroom area hadn’t been cleaned and the bins hadn’t been emptied. 3 days later there was no change, there was a pile of plastic bottles on the floor overflowing, and had to find our own toilet paper. Tried to find staff to ask but no staff were around before and after hours of getting back from tours? Kitchen area was fine but not great. I’d honestly(unfortunately) just recommend trying to stay opposite at the pepper tree lodge instead, people seemed really happy with this place!

Perfect base to explore Bay of Islands and Far North

Loved the sunshine in the room, view over pool, space, crisp sheet, location very handy for the waterfront and the ferry to Russell. Own kitchen/fridge was good. Comfortable bed. Pool was good feature and good to have a swim at end of long day. Well priced.

Wonderful Suprise

The Palm Tree Apartments 🌴 was a wonderful surprise! Spacious, with its own private balcony, and everything about it was just perfect. The customer service was top-notch, and we truly felt welcomed. We loved it so much that we’d be happy to return!

Alles gut.

Unsere Buchung wurde uns gegenüber zwar bestätigt, jedoch war das Hostel ausgebucht als wir ankamen. Die Empfangsdame hat schließlich jedoch eine gute Lösung für uns gefunden, indem sie uns ein Zimmer gab, dass es eigentlich nicht gab. In dieses legten wir uns 2 Matratzen und somit hatten wir ein Einzelzimmer zum Preis eines 6-Bett-Zimmers. Von daher hatten wir Glück im Unglück. Die Anlage war ganz schön. Die Lage war schön; sehr dicht am Strand und an umliegende Restaurants.

Das Buchungssystem sollte besser abgeglichen werden um Überbuchungen zu vermeiden.
