Absolutely unacceptable
Location
This was simply the worst hostel experience of my life.
It was my first time staying in a hostel — and definitely the last. We checked in as three girls, and when we entered the room, there was a stranger sleeping in one of the beds assigned to us.
When we went to the reception to report it, the staff member was incredibly rude. He didn’t believe us at all. He came to the room with us to “check,” but by that moment the guy who had been sleeping there had either gone to the bathroom or stepped out to smoke — it was obvious someone had just been lying there: the bed was warm, messy, and there were food traces.
When we insisted that we literally saw a man there moments ago, we got this response:
“I don’t know anything. I don’t see a person. You booked the room — that’s your problem.”
In the end, we had to wait for that guy to return, and only after a long argument with the receptionist did they finally admit the person had stayed an extra night without paying. Still — no apology at all.
On top of that, I had no clean bedding.
My blanket had urine stains, and so did the pillow. I had to sleep fully dressed, without a pillow, using my scarf as a blanket. The door also didn’t lock, which made the night even more uncomfortable and unsafe.
One of my friends travels constantly and has stayed in countless hostels worldwide — even she was shocked. She said she had never seen anything like this.
I don’t know the name of the man who checked us in, but it was late at night, and he was a man over 40.
Overall: absolutely unacceptable. Worst service I’ve ever experienced.

Mit der S-Bahn ist man schnell in der Stadt
Es hat einen Grund, warum dieses Hostel das billigste der Stadt ist. Nur 1 Toilette und 1 Waschbecken für 4 Mehrbettzimmer, dementsprechend schmutzig. Der Duschvorhang dort ist nur noch ein Fetzen, daher ist der Boden immer nass. Der andere Raum mit Duschen war sauberer. Dort allerdings nur Gemeinschaftsduschen, wie auf dem Foto zu sehen. Die Flure riechen penetrant nach Rauch und Cannabis.

Erst war ich skeptisch mir mit anderen einen gemeinsamen Schlafsaal zu teilen, aber die Preise waren in meiner Übernachtungsacht in Hamburg echt teuer. Daher habe ich es einfach mal ausprobiert und war begeistert. Ich habe dort nette Leute getroffen, mit denen ich am Abend dann noch in der Bergedorfer Altstadt unterwegs war. War echt super! Das HostelCamp ist in einem sehr großen Gebäude gemeinsam mit einem Hotelbetrieb gelegen, wodurch auch eine 24/7 durchgehend besetzte Rezeption mit nettem hilfsbereitem Personal vor Ort ist. Kostenlose Parkplätze waren inklusive. Aber ein Auto ist vor Ort nicht wirklich nötig. Eine Station Fahrt mit dem Bus und man ist in der Bergedorfer Altstadt und die Bushaltestelle ist direkt vor der Tür. In die Hamburger Innenstadt kommt man schnell ohne Stau und Parkplatzprobleme mit der S-Bahn, welche 4 Minuten zu Fuß entfernt alle 10 Minuten abfährt. Das Frühstücksbuffet (täglich von 7-11 Uhr) im angeschlossenen Restaurant Tellerturm sah sehr einladend aus, daher habe ich es vor Ort nachgebucht. Die Waschräume waren sehr sauber und unmittelbar am Schlafsaal gelegen.
Man muss natürlich Kompromisse machen, wenn man sich mit anderen Gästen ein Zimmer teilen muss. Aber man hat, wie in meinem Fall immer die Chance auf nette Zeitgenossen zu treffen, anstatt alleine in seinem Zimmer abzuhängen. Mein Schlafsaal hatte 5 Betten und mit mir waren 3 von den 5 Betten besetzt. Und unterm Strich ist das Preis- Leistungsverhältnis echt unschlagbar. Ich werde das in Zukunft öfter machen und in Hamburg auch gerne wieder im HostelCamp. Es gab auch eine eigentlich ganz nett aussehende Bar im Haus, aber die ist wohl schon länger nicht mehr aktiv gewesen. Ich habe direkt mal angeregt die wieder zu aktivieren. Genug nette Leute, um gemeinsam den Abend zu verbringen sind auf jeden Fall vor Ort. 😊

Ich komme wieder!
Nette Bettnachbarn getroffen! :-) Alles Sauber, inklusive der Sanitäranlagen. Frühstucksbuffet für EUR 12,80 sah gut aus, aber habe ich mir nicht gegönnt. Insgesamt ein sehr gutes Preis- Leistungsverhältnis. Sehr nettes und hilfsbereitestes Personal. Gute Lage: Mit der S-Bahn ist man in 18 Minuten am Hauptbahnhof, Penny und Aldi sind 2 Minuten fußläufig entfernt. Kostenlose Möglichkeit zum Tischtennis und Billard spielen. Nette Terrasse/Innenhof. Raucherbalkon nah am Schlafsaal.
Das Bier war mir mit EUR 3,50 zu teuer, aber dafür war es schön kalt. Check out Uhr 10 Uhr war mir zu früh. In Zukunft soll man wohl auch ein Late Check Out buchen können, aber aktuell geht das noch nicht. Es gibt leider keine Waschmaschine für Gäste.
